I love discovering new-to-me authors and that‘s exactly what happened with this novel. I was hooked on this story from the very beginning! Ann‘s writing is engaging and fascinating. She made me fall in love with her characters. Hildy Good is a well-respected, successful real estate agent. Her adult daughters organized an intervention because Hildy drinks too much. We meet Hildy upon her return from rehab.

I liked the renovating of the house portions of the story better. I‘m actually not quite sure how the two stories fit together, except I suppose that the things that happened with Matt‘s family really were happening at the time. There were plenty of humourous bits, maybe more humourous because super-non-handy me could relate. I‘m sure they managed to do a heck of a lot more than I ever could have, even with help from friends! Overall, I liked it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A solid #nonfiction #realestate book that walks you through how to grow your #wealth through properties even if you don't have much money.

BookNAround @DocBrown Yep. I generally have more books to pass along than anyone else so I always offer to host it so I don‘t have to schlep all of them somewhere else. 14mo

Jake and Jane have a tenuous new relationship, but they‘re both working on the same 3 cases. A problem when one of you is a police detective and the other is a news reporter. An interesting read/listen as the puzzle(s) unfold.

An interesting look at what physical possessions Levy has decided contribute to her “Real Estate” or as she sometimes muses her “un-real Estate”. In the realm of “Real Estate” we have her possessions including the banana tree. In the “Un-real Estate” realm we have the house Levy imagines for herself.

A friend lent this to me and I‘m so glad he did. Until now I haven‘t heard of ‘leftover women‘. This book is about how womxn are treated in China by the government, their friends, families. They are pressured to marry early or just instead of pursuing an education, a career, doing whatever they want. They aren‘t allowed to have homes in their names, yet they are expected to finance all of it while having the home in their husband‘s name. ⬇️

JenniferEgnor Marital rape is also legal, domestic violence goes unchecked, and queer relationships are frowned upon. Beautiful, intelligent, hard working womxn are told (being all of this) isn‘t good enough—-forget everything, and get married, but be sure to finance everything and put it all in your husband‘s name. 2y
JenniferEgnor Parents and other family members are known to financially help out their sons and other male friends/families, but not to help their daughters. Divorce is also rare—not often granted legally. 2y
JenniferEgnor Many Chinese womxn will say this is all just a Chinese Tradition. It is not. This is 100% deep rooted misogyny; it wasn‘t always so. In the Ming Dynasty (960-1279), they had many more rights. What happened? Patriarchy took control. Today, feminists in China are fighting back. 2y

JenniferEgnor @kaysworld1 I am appalled that this level of misogyny still exists in this day and age. It is so infuriating. 2y

This was a so so book I feel it got really boring at times but it was really interesting at times to it talks about real estate and what type of person is good for that job. I think this book shows you can do anything if you work hard and don‘t give up. I would recommend this book to someone who is interested in learning something knew and thinks real state might be a good job for them.

MissYaremcio Nicely done Cameron! I would have liked a bit more on the theme, but overall good job! CUTE DOG! 5/6 2y

Great start to a new series; the main characters were just a bit nosey, but also so supportive of each other, the cast of side characters were fun. There was a legitimate reason for their snooping, the sheriff was kind of working with them, they supported each other, they didn‘t take stupid risks, and they mostly followed clues and figured it out. And, the mystery was pretty good and the suspects and red herrings were well done.
