A quick MG re-telling of the Snow White story. It was cute, and I‘ll likely read more in the series (Book 1 of the series #SeriesLove2024). The main character is a spunky, logical pre-teen girl, going on 30. 🤣.

Celine's life is the stuff fairy tales are made of. She's beautiful, talented, and brave. Unfortunately, her tale comes complete with a wicked stepmother! When Violet steps into Celine's life, everything changes and weird things begin to happen to her—bizarre accidents, strange illnesses, and rabid animal attacks.

Never watched the film so I decided I must read the book. Anyone watched it or read it?
I finally got around to finishing this series I started such a long time ago. I will admit I was a bit fatigued by the time that I got to this book. It also took me a bit to get into the story. I enjoyed the middle part but then struggled again to finish the book. While I still enjoyed the story, I found my mind wandering and was hoping we would get to the peak a bit faster. The ending felt a bit unfinished to me as well. Happy to have completed!
Creepy and dark, with a steampunk twist!

🤯No idea why I put this series down before finishing it🤦🏻♀️ but wow am I glad I dove right back in! A great read & very much recommended❤️🔥📚🤓
Somehow I never got around to actually reading this one before even though I knew it was one I‘d love, and it didn‘t disappoint. Although it‘s written almost as an illustrated short story, and that‘s not my favorite length for Gaiman‘s writing. I find his work more compelling when he either takes the space to flesh it out even more, or keeps it startlingly brief.
Not sure why this has such a low rating on here! This was funny, light but nuanced, and overall a clever subversion of familiar tropes (& stereotypes/double binds familiar to most women with time and experience). I think it pairs well with the traditional fairytales mentioned (Cinderella, Snow White, Rapunzel) to offer grounding and an alternate perspective. ⚖️🤷🏻♀️💅🏻✨💖
“Faraway” Collection on Amazon complete - this was my fave.
