#wdncw I said what I said & don‘t care….I miss him. And the other day greeting the plane full of veterans 🥹. I miss uneventful news days & days not filled with scandals. It‘s been an exhausting year

Wanted to read something short so I settled for this collection of speeches by Kurt Vonnegut. Some of his views are slightly outdated but overall he was a deeply inspirational man who advocated for communities and togetherness. A lot of what he talks about is still eerily relevant today.

Listened to for #AuthorAMonth September #KurtVonnegut Overall, I enjoyed this college commencement speeches, although they do get repetitive, especially toward the end. With the two stories read & listened to previously, I feel like I have read enough for now. Would I try one of his better known novels at some point? Maybe.🤷🏻♀️

I started several Vonnegut novels and couldn‘t get thru them. A little too dark for me. So I settled on this compilation of his speeches. Kurt was very quotable and had many powerful messages to impart. I applaud him for his empathy, his courage to speak the truth & for being such a survivor. After listening to the wonderfully detailed biographical intro included with this audiobook, I may need to read one of his bios.

Kurt Vonnegut‘s biography starts this audiobook, which I found to be very good, not knowing anything about him—even though I knew he was a famous author who had a big impact in the 1960s and 70s. These are mostly his commencement speeches at colleges. The first speech ends with a discussion of how politicians use hate like a drug. In the second speech, I was astounded at how he, an atheist, respected Jesus is the prince of peace. Sadly, after ⬇️

I‘m listening to this audiobook. OMG everybody should hear this. It‘s a collection of Vonnegut‘s graduation addresses. It starts with a wonderful biography of Vonnegut. And his speeches are humorous and deep. The first speech ends with a discussion of how politicians use hate like a drug. So meaningful now. I‘ve only just started the second one and I‘m astounded and love how he, an atheist, explains why Jesus is the prince of peace. #authoramonth

I got these about 10 years ago when I was visiting Atlanta, GA. While it could be depressing how relevant King's message still is today, his story is nonetheless inspiring, and many of his philosophies are still in practice today, whether intentionally or subconsciously.
And I miss when the most scandalous news day was when he wore a 🤎 suit.
