This favorite shelf holds ALL THE BOOKS on personality. This one is a favorite.

LectricSheep The Wisdom of the Enneagram is so amazing. Every time I pick it up, I feel like it's looking into my soul. 😄 7y
Blaire I absolutely loved quiet. It felt very validating as an introvert (infp). Susan Cain gave a talk at a law school reunion I attended and if was wonderful. On podcast you mentioned wanting to read more Anne Tyler. I love her early books, but have a particular fondness for 7y
MiaCostello Quiet is everything! As an undercover introvert for years, the book was so empowering. I don't re-read often, but this is one I will come back to again and again. 7y

Reading this now, finally, and it's great. Thus the familiar question: why did I put it off for so long?

SusaninTX A frequent question for me as well, but I'm starting to realize the ones we wait for tend to be a better fit when we read them than they would've when we first make note of them - more times than not, anyway. Happy Reading! 7y

Spotted: great book in an adorable edition. (Harper Olive)

SusaninTX I didn't realize how little (height wise) these editions were until I got Pilgrim at Tinker Creek. But, they are soooo pretty. 😊 7y

"There's a trick to everything. That's how you get through life." Reading my very first Anne Tyler, finally, and enjoying it--because of lines like these.

KarenUK She's a gap in my reading too.... I should add her to my TBR for 2017 😊 7y

The Likeness: A Novel | Tana French
post image

This used to be, unquestionably, my favorite Tana French novel. I can't decide if the new one is better or not. Either way, that says good things for Tana French.

writek @annebogel The Likeness is my favorite, too, but I haven't read the new one yet. 7y
wanderlustywriter It's still my favorite, even though I did adore The Trespasser. I can't wait until the next one! Only 2 more years... 7y

All the Light gets all the love, but I might love this slim memoir even more. Great for lovers of good prose, those who enjoy peeks behind the curtain of the writing process, and armchair travelers.

KarenUK Sounds good! I loved 'all the light...' and love Rome, so I'm in! 📚 7y
jessdean This has been on my TBR since I heard u talk about it on WSIRN, but I haven't read it yet!! I need to move it up! 7y

Jayber Crow: A Novel | Wendell Berry
post image

Tiny bookstore, large Wendell Berry selection. I approve.

monandez I'm currently reading Jayber. Loving it so far! 7y
christineandbooks Anne, what Wendell Berry should I start with if I haven't read anything by him? 7y
annebogel @christineandbooks I'd do Jayber Crow or Hannah Coulter, or even his nonfiction essays. As long as you start, it doesn't much matter where. 7y

SusaninTX I loved Hannah Coulter. I felt like I'd sat down to listen to my grandmother tell me a story. ❤️ 7y
thenextch4pter Wendell Berry will be at Centre College (my alma mater) in Danville, KY on November 14!! 7y
Literarydeb My son randomly picked up Jayber Crow at the library about 18 months ago, neither of us having ever heard of Wendell Berry, and now I find I'm hearing of him constantly. I definitely need to read something by him soon. 7y

I didn't read this series till I was an adult--and it was totally MY LOSS. (Psst--the audio series narrated by Cherry Jones is fantastic.)

SaraFair I'm like you and just got my first one! Too busy watching it on tv I guess. 7y
SusaninTX I had an aunt who gave me a couple of them (the TV show was a bigger deal when I was a kid), so I, too, read the complete series as an adult and my own girls got them for birthday/Valentines growing up. At our house, every holiday is a book-receiving occasion (Valentines, Easter, etc.). 😊❤️📚 7y
Literarydeb I did not read these until I was an adult. One of my sons reads a chapter book aloud with each of his 3 children every night before bed, even his 12-year-old daughter. He started each with this series, and, in fact, is just starting the 6-year-old boy. I've taken my son & each of the two girls separately when they were about 7 years old, to Missouri to Laura Ingalls Wilders' home where she lived with Almanzo, and where the Wilders Museum is. 7y

The Sparrow: A Novel | Mary Doria Russell
post image

I've been meaning to read this for years. Starting now. Or, at least, now-ish.

SusaninTX I can't wait to hear your thoughts. That was one I HAD to talk about as soon as I finished. I pretty much told my husband, "read this as fast as possible so we can talk about it!" He obliged me by going back and forth between audio and text (Yes, he's a keeper! We're 25 years and counting.?) "Enjoy" is not the best word, so I hope you find it as thought provoking as I did. 7y
Jakm One of my favorites. I had put it off too as science fiction is not my genre of choice. But it really is so much more. Enjoy! 7y

I'm trying to play it cool and not urge my daughters to read this RIGHT NOW because then they won't but I really want my daughters to read this right now. And maybe I will too.

Leanney Just put a hold on this at my library! I trust all things with the @annebogel seal of approval. 7y

Literarydeb @annebogel This book looks delightful according to the reviews, and the Amazon synopsis. And, like everyone else, I trust your judgement. But I'm having trouble judging age-range. Is it a chapter book? Amazon says 6 & up, but is that reading level or content? My youngest grandgirl is almost nine, and an avid and excellent reader. I think she'd really like the subject matter, but is the book too simplistic for her? (Anyone can jump in here.) 7y
annebogel @Literarydeb 6 and up sounds right for content. I would estimate 8 and up for independent reading level. 7y
annebogel @Literarydeb Definitely not too simplistic for a 9yo. (Or 11 or 12yo. You've got time.) 7y
ErikaSB I just read this to my 6,8 & 12 year olds. They all loved it when I read it to them. The 8 year old had tried to read it several months before (when she was still 7) and had a hard time getting into it on her own. 7y
