Really enjoying this book so far and only 20% in. It‘s keeping me just spooked enough, making me laugh just enough, and has me continually asking enough questions to keep me engaged.

so-soI really enjoyed the first half. It felt like a different story for the rest with some turns I found unbelievable. I expected the evolution of snow to be darker and more twisted. Still glad I read it.
panI wanted to like this book. Being a lover of true crime, being from the south there was a lot here I was looking forward to. I felt the beginning of the book was very enjoyable. The character tropes were nostalgic but I expected to have the tropes flip the script and I felt the book failed to do so. Instead it leaned in harder. The sexual violence was lazy and made me want to put the book down. I powered through but I wouldn‘t recommend it.
so-soI did enjoy it. Loved the character development but felt it lacked focus on the mystery being delivered. This kept the energy pretty even. It does have a kind of Stranger Things vibe that I found really fun, but over all because of the mystery reveal being kind of lack luster I will say so so. When I started this book I couldn‘t put it down but by the end I was having to pull myself through it. Worth a read though.

I didn‘t know if I was going to stick with this series after the first book (it‘s a little outside my normal reads) but I‘m glad I did. I‘m about half way through and enjoying this one much more than the first thus far.
