The House of Small Shadows, by Adam Nevill, is one of those horror novels that has the ability to easily get under my skin. It just tends to constantly leave you feeling like there's something off in what's happening to the main character, giving you these little goosebumps that won't go away. I really enjoyed Celeste Ng's Little Fires Everywhere, particularly the contrast between the Warrens and the Richardsons. The characters were easily my favourite part of the novel. I loved everything about Gail Carriger's Soulless, from its premise to its main character.
