Really enjoying this deep dive into the Galvin family, a family of twelve children, of whom 6 develop schizophrenia. (Kitty likes any book that enthralls me long enough to allow for lap naps.) #catsoflitsy

Cozy rainy Saturday night reading about madness #dogsoflitsy

The reason why I have so much extra time to read right now...a stress fracture brought on by too much running. No running for six weeks (I‘ve got four weeks left 😢), no running the three half marathons I signed up for this fall/winter...BUT more time to read! So there is a silver lining at least 😊
Starting this book tonight.

Reading the tagged book tonight while this little guy takes a snooze. Monty is always my favorite reading buddy. 💙 #dogsoflitsy

A history of the American women‘s suffrage movement told through biographical sketches of some of the lesser known activists in the fight for the vote. Informative, inspiring, and entertaining!

Just started this book, which profiles a variety of activists within the suffrage movement, and there are so many moments of fierceness from these women, like this passage on Sojourner Truth. Love love love this book so far!

Reading about murderers with this sweet old girl on the eve of the first day of school. Happy new school year to all fellow teachers! 🍎

When you‘re trying to finish your book, but someone wants to snuggle first. 💙 #dogsoflitsy

Spending time with Abraham and Theodore and Franklin and Lyndon (and this pretty kitty) #catsoflitsy

Spending a gloomy June afternoon reading about a bank robbery with my crew. #catsoflitsy #dogsoflitsy

Killing time before an appointment with a latte and true crime

Home sick today, so most of today was spent sleeping and reading Golden State. It‘s SO GOOD.

Monty may be snoozing, but I‘m too hooked on this thriller to sleep. For a little guy, he sure has some mighty snores.

I am fiercely proud to be a public school teacher and just as proud to be a union leader in my district. UTLA is fighting the good fight for better schools and better conditions for students. Public education is a fundamental right in a democracy, and people need to stand up to protect it. Support the strike by not crossing picket lines and by wearing red tomorrow (Mon. 1/14). #utla #redfored #solidarity

A little late on this, but I did alright in 2018. #yearinbooks

As someone who struggles with anxiety, there‘s a lot of stress in this book that I‘m finding isn‘t making it the most enjoyable of reads, but I‘m pushing through. It‘s been raining all day, so my best friend Monty and I have been snuggled up watching movies and reading all day. #dogsoflitsy

Lazy Christmas Eve at Mom and Dad‘s #dogsoflitsy

It‘s hard to quit reading and get up when you‘ve got a giant love bug giving you snuggles. #dogsoflitsy

My boyfriend‘s dog Truman is not a Great Dane like the dog in this book, but this gentle giant is who I pictured throughout. #dogsoflitsy

A neat political thriller written in 1965 about a president who is seemingly losing his marbles. #foreshadowing

Loved it. The thing with biographies is that you know the person is going to die at the end, but it‘s still sad when you get to that point in the book. So long, Mr. Darrow. Yours was an interesting ride.

Heading into the final 100 pages. Just about to begin the circus that was the Scopes Trial.

Climbing into bed with Monty and a book. Clarence Darrow led a fascinating life—friend to the labor movement, brilliant in the courtroom, and a participant in some of the most important trials in American history. This biography covers all of that and also doesn‘t shy away from exploring Darrow‘s many flaws. So far, a great read, and nice company on this Saturday night.

Last weekend I just so happened to capture my favorite #selfie ever, which includes my boyfriend falling off a mountain ledge. 💙 #friyayintro

Beach date with this handsome guy yesterday, followed by reading time with a fascinating new book. #dogsoflitsy

Hustling to finish this one before the library steals it off my Kindle tomorrow, while Monty stares at me from across the room

It‘s the last week of summer, but this teacher is already in school mode. #teachersoflitsy

After running this thing today, all I want to do is curl up in a pillow nest and read for days.

With all the heartbreak and injustice in the news this week perpetuated by the current administration, it‘s been nice to disappear into this memoir of the Obama years. #dogsoflitsy

Nearing the end of this one, and I‘m eager to see how it wraps up.

School‘s out for summer, so time to read (or snooze, if you are sleepy Monty). #dogsoflitsy #teachersoflitsy

Oh boy, I don‘t know about this one. Maybe it‘s because of Friday‘s shooting or the fact that the narrator is annoying or something else entirely that I just can‘t pin down, but I‘m not feeling this one, about the aftermath of a school shooting told by a teacher who had (wrongfully) been accused of having some involvement in it.
But anyway, here‘s a pic of my super cute boy Monty, who is keeping me company during my evening reading. #dogsoflitsy

Friday night. Time for murrrrrrrrrrrder.
#dogsoflitsy

Between half-marathon training and golf lessons and WASC writing and resuming my teaching duties after having a student teacher for two months, my reading has been lagging recently. I‘m trying to finish this one before the library Kindle gods snatch it away. Good stuff so far! #dogsoflitsy

After a weekend apart, Monty and I are back in our natural habitat. #dogsoflitsy

This book is fantastic. I‘ve devoured the first half today, and it‘s intriguing, well-paced and keeps me guessing.

That neat feeling when you start the Malala book the night before news breaks about her first return visit to Pakistan since she was shot in the head by the Taliban there six years ago...

An hour by hour account of the Cuban missile crisis with the American, Soviet, and Cuban perspectives interwoven as the world stands on the brink of nuclear war. A gripping, illuminating read!
