I feel like this is one of those I need to go back and read in book form instead of audiobook.

This book was fine. Fairly predictable, with the exception of a few plot points that were not so much unpredictable as they were implausible. I listened on audio and the narrator did a good job, especially with the Irish accent.

Does it ever mention how Ellie got pregnant with poppy in the first place ?

5feet.of.fury I remember Noelle drugged her and …I gues turkey basted her… I don‘t think it went into specifics… with sperm she got off the internet. 2mo
BookishGirl06 @5feet.of.fury I just finished it and that just seems so weird to me. What did she knock her out again and insert sperm into her privates or something? I don‘t think she could sneak it into her food cause I don‘t think that‘s how it works 2mo

90ish pages in and I already have a theory. Don‘t spoil me if I‘m right or not please, but I‘m wondering if Poppy and Ellie are related somehow. Obviously not the same person but 🤔

BookishGirl06 I wonder if maybe Ellie is poppy‘s biological mother. Again don‘t tell me if I‘m right or not 2mo

This was the first book I read from this author and WOW I loved it! Definitely a page turner and I enjoyed thinking about all the possibilities that the storyline could take me. It was suspenseful with an ending I actually liked. If you have read any other books by Lisa Jewell I would love some recommendations.

An amazing thriller by Lisa Jewell.

Ellie Mack, 15, went missing in this suspenseful psychological thriller. In her book Then She Was Gone, Lisa Jewell emphasizes less on what actually happened to Ellie and more on how and why she disappeared, as well as the consequences for her family.

This was such a devastating story. Laurel has a teenage daughter that simply vanishes one day with out any answers or leads. The story moves on with Laurel not being able to come to terms with the disappearance of Ellie. This book moved quickly and was rather dark. I found the ending to be a little predictable, but I still drank it all up.

THEN SHE WAS GONE by Lisa Jewell

Ten years after Laurel‘s daughter, Ellie, goes missing, she meets someone special and begins to piece her life back together, and repair the bonds with her remaining family. But alas, along the way of healing, there may be unexpected clues as to what happened to Ellie…

Full of subtle foreshadowing and a few good twists, this is a bizarre, enthralling tale that will rip your heart out—and then maybe put it back📖

5feet.of.fury Loved this one, so haunting. 4mo

Easily one of my top ten books. One of the first books where I didn‘t mind the narration jumping from character to character. I did have some open ended questions after finishing but would totally read it again. #thenshewasgone #psychologicalthriller #lisajewell

This one managed to keep me guessing until (almost) the end. And I actually didn't mind the shifting points of view. I enjoyed getting into some of the other character's heads. It really rounded out the narrative for me. I suppose there is some content in this book that could be triggering for some. Wasn't an issue for me, but I thought I'd put it out there for anyone considering giving it a read. All in all, I enjoyed it.

The novel is totally "bizarre," just as Jewell describes it. The haunting tale of a missing child and the carefully constructed jumps from past to present made it difficult to put the book down. Ultimately I found the twists a bit predictable, aside from the very end! I would definitely recommend this if you're up for a mystery.

GreenGrl87 @riversong153 I liked it for the most part, but I was very sad and quite predictable… there was also a bit of an ick factor that was resolved (more or less) at the end, but still thinking about it through the story was a little weird. 10mo

Lucy Fur assisting mom. I really enjoyed this book! A 15 year old girl goes missing and 10 years later, there is movement on the case just as her mom starts to move on with her life.
This was a solid, entertaining read. Zero complaints. I was fully engaged, didn‘t notice any huge plot holes, it was good. I would read this author again. Two thumbs up, and book #4 of 2022. Also another off my tbr, so that‘s a win!

I enjoyed the Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell and decided to try this book. The first half was slow and I didn‘t like the characters. The story picked up in the middle but I also figured out how the story was going to end before I got to it. I do recommend this book if you like mysteries.

This was an easy to read novel that contained absolutely no “bone-chilling suspense”. You follow the mother of a missing daughter who meets a man 10 years after her disappearance. This man also has a 10 year old little girl who eerily resembles her missing daughter. While the plot is fresh and exciting it was easy to see what would happen at every point.

So chilling. The story of a missing child and the broken lives that came before and after. The pieces get laid out as the story continues, very consistently paced. For as twisted as it became it‘s quite believable. It‘s a pick if you enjoy Dysfunctional families, suspense, “bunny boilers”.
