Father Christmas and Me
Father Christmas and Me | Matt Haig
23 posts | 17 read | 13 to read
LET THE BATTLE FOR CHRISTMAS BEGIN It isn't always easy, growing up as a human in Elfhelm, even if your adoptive parents are the newly married Father Christmas and Mary Christmas. For one thing, Elf School can be annoying when you have to sing Christmas songs everyday - even in July - and when you fail all your toy-making tests. Also it can get very, very cold. But when the jealous Easter Bunny and his rabbit army launch an attack to stop Christmas, it's up to Amelia, her new family and the elves to keep Christmas alive. Before it's too late . . .

This series has been our Christmas tradition for the last three years, and my son (nearly 11 now) has enjoyed them immensely. I continue to love how Haig tempers all the cheer and magic of the holiday with real tragedy and depression.

This one had references that were a little too obviously about our modern political climate—which probably would have been okay if we‘d read it last year, but with everything going on this year it was...a lot.

Book 10/14 finished for #DashingDecember, Book 9/9 for #WinterSolstice

Last book in A Boy Called Christmas Trilogy. Loved all three books, although my favourite would be the 2nd one. This book has Father Christmas and the Easter Bunny in it, and people being drowned by chocolate, what more could you want. Recommend the whole Trilogy.

This has become a bit of a tradition for my book club, so a bit sad to reach the end of the series this year. A lovely little read exploring more about Christmas traditions 🎅

I quickly finished this one before work.
Didn't like it as I did A Boy Called Christmas.
I think I don't like Amelia as the narrator.

So that give me another 15min for #24B42020 #Readathon
And a #HolidayRead for #WinterGames #Elfies

Super cute as with the first two! Last book in this clever Christmas trilogy, this one is a story of a clash between Christmas and Easter, with some masked current day political issues concerning the media woven in that probably only adults reading it to their kid would pick up on!

Started Christmas hiking in the ice with my crazy father-in-law, and now I‘m trying to thaw out with a festive tale.

I am obsessed with Matt Haig's Christmas Trilogy. This one is Father Christmas and Me, so wonderful and sweet and gave me warm feeling plus made me crave chocolate.
