Let It Snow
Let It Snow: Three Holiday Stories | John Green, Maureen Johnson, Lauren Myracle
Three interconnected stories from three bestselling authors: John Green (Paper Towns, The Fault in our Stars), Maureen Johnson (The Name of the Star), and Lauren Myracle (The Internet Girls series.)Major motion picture in the works!A Christmas Eve snowstorm transforms one small town into a romantic haven, the kind you see only in movies. Well, kinda. After all, a cold and wet hike from a stranded train through the middle of nowhere would not normally end with a delicious kiss from a charming stranger. And no one would think that a trip to the Waffle House through four feet of snow would lead to love with an old friend. Or that the way back to true love begins with a painfully early morning shift at Starbucks. Thanks to three of todays bestselling teen authorsJohn Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myraclethe magic of the holidays shines on these hilarious and charming interconnected tales of love, romance, and breathtaking kisses.A New York Times Bestseller! "Tender without being mushy, these carefully crafted stories of believable teen love will leave readers warm inside for the holidays."School Library Journal "Contemporary culture, humorous romantic developments and strong characters enhance this collaborative effort."Kirkus ReviewsFrom the Trade Paperback edition.

Three short stories set in the same town, with overlapping characters. The first one by Maureen Johnson was the strongest; I‘m surprised I liked John Green‘s the least.

I love that the cover matches ❄️❄️❄️ bookmark my grandmother made for me a few years ago!

Watching the Netflix movie later today!

Sharpeipup I just got this book from the library and plan to read then watch today too! 2h
4thhouseontheleft @Sharpeipup I hope you like it! 2h

Someone explain something to me. In the first short story, the main character is travelling by train from Richmond, VA to FL when the train gets stuck in a small town.

In the 2nd story, this same town is geographically placed in the mountains of western NC.

There is no reason for a train travelling the I95 corridor to go through the mountains of western NC. It doesn‘t make any sense.

This is REALLY bothering me!

Bookwormjillk Maybe they were going to the Florida panhandle? But I agree dumb, and maybe the meant Roanoke VA not Richmond 1d
Addison_Reads Oh, that would bother me too. 😬 1d
4thhouseontheleft @Bookwormjillk except the neighbor in the first story is a high-powered lawyer that works in DC. It seems the different authors missed something in their communication with each other! 1d
See All 8 Comments
4thhouseontheleft @Addison_Reads glad I‘m not the only one! 1d
Bookwormjillk @4thhouseontheleft the neighbor commutes from Richmond to DC? That alone would do it for me. 1d
4thhouseontheleft @Bookwormjillk well, I kind of interpreted it as he goes to DC for big cases. Not a daily commute. But that could just be me trying to rationalize wonky geography 1d
LibrarianRyan Thank goodness I didn't read this book and only cheeted and watched the movie. Lovely Bk by the way. 23h
IndoorDame I hate discrepancies like that! Totally takes you out of the story. And it always seems like it should have been an easy catch for the editor 23h

As a whole, I found this to be underwhelming. I had such high hopes but it didn‘t quite reach them. This book was originally published in 2008 and I felt like this was a very typical YA book from that time. There was nothing that really drew me in and made me fall in love with it. I also didn‘t feel any sort of attachment to the characters.

Since it's the last day of the month and we are all getting ready for the #WinterGames I thought I'd post my #DecemberTBR

Yup....that's all I got. Honestly, I might not even read that. Totally depends on what I feel like. Time will tell.

Anyone else foregoing a TBR for the month because they just have no idea what they want to read?

#moodreader #TBR #NoCommittments

MoonWitch94 I have 4 books on mine but all Christmas related. And all under 400 pages, no chunky ones. The month is too busy & I don‘t have time, lol. 2w
RebL Ninety percent of the books I read, I read for work. I do it gladly, but it takes a lot of choice away. You better bet that when I get a week off at the end of December, I'm going to read what I want to read!

I did watch the Netflix movie, and the Let It Snow stories are charming--if you want charming on your TBR. ;-)
2w
teebe I‘m doing the opposite. I‘m making a TBR but putting way too many books on it because I don‘t know what I want to read 🤦🏻‍♀️ (edited) 2w

I haven‘t read this or seen the Netflix special but I did get this as a holiday gift for someone. And I requested a copy for myself through my library. But I thought I‘d ask...
For any book...
❄️ Do you prefer the original book cover or the cover linked to the film?
❄️Do you compare the book to movie religiously or do you love and accept both?
❄️Do you read/watch holiday related books/movies during the holiday or all year long?

StayCurious I love when books I like are made into movies or tv shows! If I like the movie adaptation I tend to like the movie tie in cover. I love sappy holiday movies - this year I‘m binging hallmark movies😛 2w
Moonprismpower @StayCurious my favorite super cheesy tv holiday movies:Eve‘s Christmas (on amazon prime) and Ebbie (starring Susan Lucci) and A Diva‘s Christmas Carol (Vanessa Williams). But my most favorite Christmas movie of all time is Scrooged. 2w

Lunch with a new book.
I blew through Maureen Johnson's story and am 7 chapters into John Green's. Granted, it's been a while since I've read anything by him but... Was he always this annoying? The plot starts with a suicidal drive across town in a blizzard because the teenage boy wants to be trapped at Waffle House with a squad of cheerleaders. 🙄
