I loved this book! It had so@many good ratings/comments I decided to read it. Couldn‘t wait to get back to it after work every day. Definitely a pick, going to try more of Jackson‘s books.

Maybe more of a 2.5 than a 3 star read. Jackson has a decent premise here for a page turner. There were some elements that deviated a bit from expectation. The pacing is well off (it‘s SLOW and repetitive) and I felt like the twists were executed to obviously (see how clever I am for leading you astray?) for my taste. That being said, it occupied me enough for a couple of days.

Repost from @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks ...1 point for anything you haven‘t done. I‘m not proud that I have dog-eared in a desperate moment or not returned a borrowed book (from the elementary school library in 1977 and I still have it) but I have done all of these things.😳 my cat was named after Jass, a character from Alex Haley‘s Queen and anytime I read a lot I don‘t sleep well worrying over the characters.

Currently reading the tagged book and the only other book I plan on reading is a recommendation from @wanderinglynn Other than that I plan on reading what I feel like when I feel like. #JanuaryTBR #newyearnewyou

wanderinglynn I hope you like Mel. It‘s a little different story than Lily‘s as Mel is a contractor, not a witch! 😉 But just as fun. 2w

I've finished my first book from my list of books! It's an in-between pick and so-so for me. Everytime I felt my interest waning there was a new unexpected twist which was great and kept me going. I liked the diving connection too. I guess I'll go for a pick as although the writing style wasn't my kind of thing, the twists were not ones I would've guessed which I always love!

In the middle I was going more for a so-so as it became a bit of a run of the mill psychological thriller! But then it really turned around in the last third and definitely wasn‘t the ending I was expecting!

I really enjoyed the premise of this book starting with a book club and a game to expose secrets that turns dark. It really kept me in edge and uncomfortable and I thought the twists were plausible and exciting. I would have liked the ending to be a little less easy than the way it wrapped up, but overall, I really enjoyed this!

Book club aftermath! Happy weekend Littens! This month's book club meeting was at my house and it was such a riot discussing this one! We had a range of feelings including.... "Like watching a Lifetime movie;" "entertaining;" "so bad it's good." Ultimately I think everyone had a lot of fun with this domestic thriller but they recommended the physical book over audio. ?

What's your favorite book club snack?

Cinfhen Yay for bookclub!!!! We serve light snacks too and it‘s always the fresh cut fruits and chocolate covered anything that seems to be most popular. I just discovered coconut dipped rolled dates with cocoa powder and crushed pistachios and they were a HUGE hit with the bookclub ladies 💓 3mo

Nute We don‘t have snacks at my book club meetings (January- November), but I might have to introduce the idea. Our gathering in December is more like a party with food, drinks and a gift exchange. Food is always a good idea to me. How is it handled? Is it the responsibility of one member per meeting? Or does everyone bring something? 3mo
valeriegeary @Nute right now we just have it where everyone brings a small snack or drink if they want. Sometimes the person hosting will offer something more. Once we had tacos, once sushi, but even without the host providing we usually have a good assortment of things to snack on 2mo

With 3 weeks until my wedding, I have come to grips with the fact that I‘m not going to get any more reading done in that time frame. I ambitiously borrowed these books from the library several weeks ago and have been looking longingly at them without having time to pick them up... so I finally returned them. Between wedding organizing and working hard at work in anticipation of being off for the honeymoon, reading will just have to wait.

ElizaMarie Happy early marriage!!! So exciting! 3mo

I do not go for thrillers but I did enjoy this one. The layers of story going on here and how well Amy learned and played the game was fascinating. Rue was very right when she described Amy as an origami puzzle but that also applied to the book as well. There were so many different moments that unfolded and changed the picture. Books like this make me happy for the rest of the group for making me try new reads. #lmpbc @Schlinkles @bookandcat

This is one for the Liane Moriarty fans. It felt very The Husband‘s Secret-esque, just not quite as compelling. Don‘t come in expecting a lot of bookish chat; that part of the plot is over and done with quite quickly, and you‘ll learn more about scuba diving than you will about running a book club 😅 Exclusive review for subscribers at http://keepingupwiththepenguins.com/new-releases/ #NewBooks #BookClub #7Days7Covers

I will read ANYTHING by Joshilyn Jackson. That woman can write a Southern page-turner like no one else. And she excels in writing a “deeply flawed heroine just trying to set things right...” well, usually. This was not my favorite of hers. Amy was just TOO flawed. Borderline unlikeable, unforgiveable, trending towards sociopathic. But this book is still so interesting and suspenseful!

Joshilyn Jackson does it again. Amy Whey has a past but it doesn‘t interfere with her present life. Or does it? When Roux comes to town and begins playing her games with the ladies of the local book club, life is never the same. Such a good read that wasn‘t at all what I expected but even better. If you love southern fiction and a good mystery all wrapped up in excellent writing this is a must read.

#unpopularopinion 2.5 stars rounded up to 3. I was glued to The Almost Sisters but had to force myself to finish this one. It‘s full of secrets and some twists, but it‘s #notforme. I think I struggled with this one because Amy wasn‘t a very sympathetic or likable character. I loved her sweet little family and even dealt with some other things that came up, but in the end it all felt 😏.
