New York's Upper East Side isn't the glitz & glamour you'd expect. With everyone competing to be better than their peers, there's one person who stands out; Phillippa. Elegantly chic & married to the scion of the last family held investment in the city, Phillippa is the girl everyone can't stop talking about... but there's something below the surface that nobody expects.
I really wanted to like this story - but I just couldn't get into it 🤦🏼♀️
MJ finds herself in the sleepy town of Pearl Beach with no idea what happens next... but then she meets Gloria, her elderly neighbour who is about to change her life.
The Dirty Book Club is where life long friendships are made & it's time for the next generation to come together.
This book had me wishing I had a Gloria - an unlikely character who becomes a friendship fairy godmother, connecting MJ with the women she never knew she needed.
This was one of those books that took a little while to get into. If I wasn't someone who had to finish every single book, I might have quit on it - but luckily I kept on reading and ended up LOVING the ending, eagerly moving onto book two! Buy the trilogy here: http://amzn.to/2FOB09w #chaoswalking #patrickness #yafiction
I'd be lying if I said I didn't pick this book up at the secondhand store just because it mentioned chocolate.... what I didn't realise was that it had been signed by the author inside the front cover! 📚
This was a bit of a so-so book for me. It's a mystery but it was just missing that punch. I read it through to the end, but it'll be going on the donate pile! 😔
If you're looking for a new book to read, THIS IS IT. I loved every second of it and didn't want it to end. Vanessa is an incredible author who made me feel like I was walking alongside Gracie, feeling every emotion and wondering what would happen next. Hi, my name is Kristy and I don't know how to quit on a book 🙋🏼 This was one of those books I just couldn't get into. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it (but since it was a $1 secondhand bookstore find, I can't complain 🤷🏼♀️)
After a book fail comes a book win! I really enjoyed Handbags and Gladrags by @maggiealderson - and if you like Sophie Kinsella or Jill Mansell's books you'd probably like this too! 📚
Another bargain buy from our local secondhand bookstore 💕 The Dilemmas of Harriet Carew is the story of a upper class mother & wife who finds herself with a constantly growing mountain of debt and a husband with his head in the clouds. While her friends and peers flourish, Harriet finds herself sliding further and further down the ladder of money and happiness - and then her ex boyfriend shows up more successful and more single than ever before.
For the month of February, I decided I'd read all pink books - and then I picked up a book with a purple spine 😂 Luckily I did because I loved Dinner at Roses - such a beautiful story, sometimes emotional, sometimes cheesy but so so good. The characters are so interesting and relatable and it was such a great read! Definitely recommended! 📚
What does your ideal Saturday night look like for you?
For me, instead of ?????????? it looks a little more like ??❤??.
I've decided to read all pink books this month and Love, Honour and O'Brien was my first choice (which I finished last night). The "A Very Surprising Mystery" title up the top is totally right - poor Holly finds herself unlucky in love and tied up in a whole world of drama. Buy it here: http://amzn.to/2EeUpSK
I just finished Note to Self by Alison Nancye 📚 This story is a little different than most, as readers join Beth on her journey of discovery as she leaves her hum-drum corporate life in search of joy and fulfilment with a spur of the moment trip to Peru. It's a romance, chick-lit-esque novel with self-help undertones as it's relatable, engaging and inspiring too. A different read, but an enjoyable one too!
Hello, my name is Kristy and I devour books. Finished this one in just a few hours and really enjoyed it. It's real, raw, sometimes emotional, sometimes hilarious and such a good read. It's definitely taught me not to judge a book by its cover so much as I probably wouldn't have picked this up off the shelf! 📚❤

This book. You guys! I sat finishing it last night with my hand over my mouth. Gasping. SO SO good. Do yourself a flavour and buy it. This was a random book from my TBR pile that I picked up from the secondhand book store and I'm so glad Jesse told me to read it next. It's thrilling, mysterious, intriguing and a story that truly sucks you in.

Not my usual kind of book but whilst it was a little slow to start, it's one that hooked me in and really intrigued me. It's due for release in March this year and it's certainly one to keep an eye out for if you're into fantasy or the supernatural ✨ Preorder at: http://amzn.to/2DC4UiE #ya #yafiction #ireadya #fantasy #supernatural
I didn't think I'd be a fan of this one, but it took me by surprise! Little Secrets really hooked me in. I loved the characters, the setting and the story line - though the ending could have been better!
Just finished #TheHateUGive. SO good and definitely a must read. I will definitely be seeing the movie next year as I think it's going to be one that opens so many people's eyes 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 Buy it (on SALE! 💃🏼) now ➡️ http://amzn.to/2DeKM3s
My favourite kind of books are those which you start and simply CANNOT PUT DOWN. This was one of those books... oh my word... SO good... in fact, so good I practically threw it at Jesse saying "you need to read this... NOW" just so I have someone to talk to about it. Brilliant - and a quick read too! I read this from cover to cover in just a few hours. ?? Buy it here ➡️ http://amzn.to/2CPWotE #yafiction #mustread
Summer IS good for the soul 🙌🏻☀️❤ Summertime is my favourite time of year - especially the week between Christmas and the New Year that always seems a little brighter, happier and more relaxed. I'm soaking up this time with family and friends and reading PLENTY of books. I decided to start reading War Flower today and am LOVING it! ✨ Buy it ➡️ http://amzn.to/2CHmkKR
I have a beautiful handmade leather bound journal with the most exquisite pages. It's where you'll find page after page of words that have stuck a chord in my heart. The pages are full of bible verses, quotes from friends, words from sermons and wisdom from books - and there are quite a few pages full of Katie's words. If you're looking for an example of God's love in this world, Katie is an incredible one.
I'll be honest, there was a point in this book where I wanted to write angry letters to Rachael Johns because I was so upset at how the story went. I was all but ready to give up on the book completely - but luckily I stuck with it (as I don't know how to give up on even the worst books!) and the story did redeem itself - but it was still completely different to what I expected.
I can't say I loved this book, but luckily I do love my husband and don't plan on killing him so it wasn't a research book 😜Now to choose my next read!
Dreary Sunday afternoons call for books, tea and candles 😍 Just finished this book and whilst it was intriguing and history filled, I felt like it was missing a little something.
Sometimes you read a book where you think "what WAS the author on when they wrote this?!". This was one of those books... now it should be called The Really Weird Book That Climbed Into the Donation Pile and Disappeared.
Whilst this book was interesting, I didn't love it. There were parts that hooked me in - but most of the book felt almost like a rant where I turned page after page waiting for something engaging again.
I LOVED this book! The characters and storyline hooked me in and I ended the last page wishing there was 100 more! The perfect vacation read ❤
I'm currently on vacation and this was the perfect vacation read! I loved every second of it - the characters and story line are so rich and vibrant and really hook you in!
This is a quick lighthearted read that I am sure would make a world of difference in the lives of someone needing a little nudge to follow their dreams. Annie's writing style is warm & friendly & the book reads like a conversation with a friend over coffee (or tea!). It's bit erratic but in the same way a conversation does with a friend who "gets" you - they move from thought to thought and story to story but all the while holding your attention.
Lisa is an incredible storyteller and I felt like I was walking both in Avery and Rill's shoes. The book hooked me in from the very first chapter and I could not put it down - I needed to know what was going to happen next in the story and turned the last page wishing there was more. An incredibly captivating story of human tragedy, hope and triumph against the most incredible challenges. I couldn't recommend it enough!
This was a so-so read, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity for a book pic with my favourite girls! ? If you had to choose three "Secrets to Happiness" for yourself - what would they be? ❤️
Loved this book - I didn't want to put it down! Evie is such a relatable character and the story had so many twists and turns I wasn't expecting. #womensfiction #chicklit
A quick read but a fun one at that. This would be the perfect vacation read. It's fun, girly and light but with an interesting storyline and somewhat of a surprising ending! #chicklit #womensfiction
Just finished Eliyahu's Mistress. Not what I was expecting (a I don't really know why considering the title) but an incredibly well written story. A romance between two unlikely characters - but he warned, it's very much a romance... as in not G rated and not something you'd want to read on the train with people looking over your shoulder 😜
This was one of those so-so books. I didn't love it, I didn't hate it but it's going in the donation pile rather than staying on my shelf as it's not one of those books I'll pass around to friends. ? Now I'm wondering, are you someone who can just move onto the next book when you're not loving one - or are you like me and do you keep on reading? ? I'm actually glad I kept reading this one as it did get better - just not great ?
Another day, another book! Today I finished Things I Want My Daughters to Know by Elizabeth Noble. A gorgeous story with real, relatable characters. I didn't want this to end!
When you *HAVE* to pass the local bookshop on your way back to the office, 10 books may jump into the spare bag you just so happened to have in your handbag.... 😳
This is what happens when your local bookshop has a $1 book room filled with incredible books, you have a book obsession AND you can validate your purchases because it's a charity book shop. It's a win for everyone... right? 😜
Whilst it took a little while to hook me in, this book was great and I really loved Clemmie and Guy. A cute story and a perfect vacation read!
Babysitting means lots and lots of reading time once the kiddos are asleep! What are you reading at the moment?
This book was a bit of a let down for me - but only because I'd just read A Brother's Journey, which I think was better. Despite that, it was interesting to see how his childhood shaped his life - and how his mother's behaviour was over the years as well.
Richard Pelzer's story is almost unimaginable - to think that someone could endure so much and to think that a mother could treat her children in such a despicable way - but I think it's an important story to read. I read his brother's story a few years ago & reread it this week alongside Richard's story & both were an incredible reminder of how important it is for us as a community & as individuals to speak up if we feel like something is wrong.
A horrible story, but an important one to read. The abuse Dave Pelzer endured is unimaginable - but a reminder that these atrocities happen every day, and the only chance children like Dave have is if people around them speak up. #biography #memoir #davepelzer
