"A romantic seven-day cruise is the perfect start to bakery owner Hannah Swensen s marriage. However, with a murder mystery heating up in Lake Eden, Minnesota, it seems the newlywed s homecoming won t be as sweet as she anticipated . . . " "" After an extravagant honeymoon, Hannah s eager to settle down in Lake Eden and turn domestic daydreams into reality. But when her mother s neighbor is discovered murdered in the condo downstairs, reality becomes a nightmarish investigation. Victoria Bascomb, once a renowned stage actress, was active in the theater community during her brief appearance in town . . . and made throngs of enemies along the way. Did a random intruder murder the woman as police claim, or was a deadlier scheme at play? As Hannah peels through countless suspects and some new troubles of her own, solving this crime and living to tell about it might prove trickier than mixing up the ultimate banana cream pie . . . INDULGE IN JOANNE FLUKE S CRIMINALLY DELICIOUS HANNAH SWENSEN MYSTERIES! WEDDING CAKE MURDER There are plenty of Fluke s trademark recipes on view here, and the New York trip and reality-show frame give the episode a fresh twist. "--Booklist" DOUBLE FUDGE BROWNIE MURDER Lively Add the big surprise ending, and fans will be more than satisfied. "Publishers Weekly" BLACKBERRY PIE MURDER Lake Eden s favorite baker, Hannah Swensen finds herself on the wrong end of a police investigation in Fluke s good-natured 19th [installment]. "Kirkus Reviews" RED VELVET CUPCAKE MURDER Culinary cozies don t get any tastier than this winning series. "Library Journal" If your reading habits alternate between curling up with a good mystery or with a good cookbook, you ought to know about Joanne Fluke. "The" "Charlotte Observer" CINNAMON ROLL MURDER Fans of this wildly popular series will not be disappointed. Fluke has kept this series strong for a long time, and there is still plenty to enjoy for foodie crime fans. "Booklist""

Banana Cream Pie Murder was a fun, lighthearted read with plenty of humor.

I'm nearly at the end (of what's written so far) of the Hannah Swenson series. Without giving too much away, my thoughts are that as much as I hated the love triangle between Hannah, Mike, and Norman, I absolutely HATE HATE HATE what she did to resolve it. Ugh. Even though there was a bit of a cliffhanger, I think I'll wait a bit to read Raspberry Danish.

GloVerdino Do you watch the Hallmark movies? 5y
Traci1 @GloVerdino I do, and I LOVE them. It's one of the rare occasions when I actually prefer the film/tv version. 5y
GloVerdino @Traci1 Really?! I was thinking about reading the Aurora Teagarden ones but I fear it will be the same situation 5y

Traci1 @GloVerdino I've only read one of the Teagarden ones, but I enjoyed it. I like Charlaine Harris more as a writer than Joanne Fluke, though. 5y
kplovesbooks @Traci1 I really enjoyed the movies, but for some reason couldn't even make it through the first book! It completely lost my interest mid-way! 😔 Cannot believe the Mike/Norman thing is still going on this far into the series though!!! Ugh! 5y
Traci1 @kplovesbooks movie Mike is so much better than book Mike to me. I don't know if it's because of Fluke's writing or because Cameron Mathison is such a cutie (I actually think it's the writing). I can understand why you didn't get through the book. If I didn't already really love the characters I'd never have read the books. The dialogue is pretty ridiculous. 5y
kplovesbooks @Traci1 Well I'm glad you're saying this because after I saw the movies and loved them I started second guessing myself, thinking okay maybe it was just me being silly not getting into the book; and was thinking I should even try reading it again! Haha! ...but if Mike isn't lie movie mike it doesn't even pay! 😜 5y

My husband and I have coffee together every morning when he comes home from PT. Then I read with more coffee when he goes to work.

I wasn't a fan of the book, but this reference to Luanne's #laugh was so picturesque and unexpected it stuck in my memory.

Wow#21 in the Hannah Swensen sweet murder mysteries. I have read all but#20 holiday book. Next one #22 to be released soon. I admit they are a little cheesy, but I keep reading them because I feel like I know everyone in Lake Eden😳

Pennington.K I love this series!! I had the pleasure of meeting the author a few years ago! She‘s a sweet lady. I agree the stories are cheesy but they feel like family!!! 6y
Sills @Pennington.k Agree totally sweet lady. I met her in Wichita, Ks at an author signing for Cinnamon Roll Murder🙂 6y

Fulfilling my goal to catch up on the series I'm behind on and Banana Cream Pie Murder brings me up to date in Joanne fluke's Hannah Swensen cozy mystery series. This one ends with a bit more of a cliffhanger than usual making me glad that the next in the series is due to be released next month!

Librarybelle Yes! I‘m looking forward to next month‘s release too. 6y
TheHeartlandBookFairy @Librarybelle , cozy Mysteries are my guilty pleasure 😂 I realize that I'm behind on a number of the series I generally enjoy so my goal this year is to catch up on them ! I'm making progress 😁 6y

I'm really don't know what to say about this. It's better than the last one? My sister & I have read the Hannah series together for years, so we keep reading, but it no longer resembles the series we loved. We heard Joanne speak, which was awesome, and there was fun audience back and forth over Mike v. Norman. So the sudden Ross thing is just WEIRD. Plus, the mystery & detection isn't really there, just a recital of monotonous daily activities. 👇

mabell I'm sure it is difficult as an author to make everyone happy. Some readers want the characters to evolve, and some want the status quo. In this case, JF chose evolution, but the situation & characters didn't evolve, they drastically changed in the last 5-10% of the series. To loyal readers, it just doesn't make sense. I gave this a pan, as a longtime reader. I'm not sure how I would feel if I just picked it up. 6y
cobwebmoth Aw, that's disappointing. 6y
wallacereads I am on the second book...keep going ? 6y
mabell @cobwebmoth It is! But at least I can revisit the earlier ones. 😀 6y
mabell @Phancatherine Did you like the first one? And are you liking the second? If so, then you'll enjoy the series as it continues. It carries on in the same vein. It wasn't until the last 4-5 books that there had been a change - and a very drastic one in the last 2-3. 6y

I've stopped reading these series at least 5 years ago. Why do cozy series go on and on, run to the ground the characters, the universe the writers created? Now cozy series leave me 🤷🏼‍♀️and I rarely start a new series. #emojinov

Crinoline_Laphroaig Series in general. I finally gave up on Stephanie Plum about Book 20. Author has been rehashing same story. 6y
MaleficentBookDragon I don‘t read a lot of series but I have stayed with Sue Grafton. I‘m waiting for Y to come off hold at the library. I also still read James Rollins‘ Sigma series and Preston & Child‘s Pendergast series even though they have gotten old for me. I love the characters too much to say goodbye. I do, however, prefer their stand alone novels. 6y

I've read the series from the beginning, but it feels like the author no longer cares. The last 5 have been painful to read and is it just me or does Hannah sound more flakey than the independent business owner/crime solver that she used to be?

Book 21 in the series, and I just can't stop coming back. Formulaic but still good for a mindless read, the recipes are now the highlights vs. the story. That being said, there's an ending to this which may hint at a change that's long overdue. Will keep reading even if I do want to punch Ross in the face each time he calls Hannah "Cookie ".

So....no one decided to mention that it's "Babybel," not "Baby Bell?" Cute. (I can't believe I'm still reading this, it's actually frickin' PAINFUL. And a lot of this feels like a kid wrote it.)

(I promise that I'll stop posting about this travesty now, but o m g .)

S e r i o u s l y . Among this, the fact that she still doesn't know how to turn on her cell phone, and the whole thing about "WELL HOW DO I KNOW WHICH BEER IS A PALE LAGER???" (YOU READ THE SIGN ON THE SHELF, OR, IDK, THE BOTTLE?????) I honestly can't deal. I also don't know how much more of an idiot Hannah could possibly be. ?

actualdisneyprincess Also, GOD, SOME "TRUE LOVE" AND "SOULMATE" SITUATION ROSS & HANNAH ARE. HAVE THEY EVEN MET EACH OTHER??? 7y

Since "Christmas Caramel" has a wait-list and "Banana Cream" has to go back to the library tomorrow, I said to heck with reading them in order; it's not like it really matters with these. ? (And, uh, maybe Hannah should have thought about the fact that marrying a guy meant she'd have to share a bathroom with him??? She's such an awful character now. WHY DO I KEEP READING THESE.)

I keep saying I'm done with this series, and then I see a new one, and somehow, my hands overrule my brain and I end up coming home from the library with it. Let's see what kind of mess Hannah gets herself into this time. (At least there are recipes.) #hannahswensen

derr.liz 😂 all of your posts about this series are so spot on! I feel the same way... It's a trainwreck, but I can't look away 🙈 6y
actualdisneyprincess @derr.liz yay! I‘m glad - sometimes I feel like I‘m being too mean, but then I‘m like “...no, this is a mess, you‘re just being honest, self.” 😂😂 WE CAN BE A SUPPORT GROUP, IT‘S FINE. 😂💖 6y

Latest in the Hannah Swensen mystery series. This one is much better than the last two. Does anyone else read these? I'm blown away by the ending of this one, which really opens up to what I think the next book in the series will cover. Quirky characters make this book, and others in the series, a nice way to escape to Minnesota for a time. Plus, lots and lots of recipes!
