Puss pulled the strings tight and killed the rabbit without mercy or compassion.

I honestly prefer the other version of Puss that we see in the movies. It is interesting to see how so many people have very different tales on a beloved and well-know character.

Pickpick

This book is very differ than the Puss in Boots I know from the movies or other interpretations. This one seems to be much darker and this Puss seems to be not as fun loving as others. I did like the story but I think it doesn‘t have a good lesson. This is more of a fun book then one to learn lessons from.

Since I finished my first book of 2020 today
(Aru Shah and the Song of Death by Roshani Chokshi - 🌟🌟🌟🌟), I decided to read something shorter and lighter. Cue this book I've been meaning to delve into- cat fairytales! This includes Puss in Boots and The King of Cats, and many more I'm excited to read!

quote
shannontevis
Puss in Boots | Charles Perrault

(Talking to the king) ““Sire, I've brought you a wild rabbit which the Marquis of Carabas“ -That was the name Puss decided to give to his Master...“ I think this is a humorous quote that characterizes Puss in Boots very well.

Puss in Boots | Charles Perrault

I think this is a good book to read to a group of older children, because it could lead into a discussion about whether or not they thought Puss in Boots's did the right thing. I also think they'd have a better appreciation for the illustrations.

“Puss in Boots“ by Charles Perrault, 1990. Caldecott Honor Award. This book follows the classic story of Marquis and his cat Puss in Boots. The illustrations are beautiful, colorful, and detailed pencil drawings that truly immerse the reader in the story. Puss in Boots leads the peasant Marquis into a life of luxury by convincing the king that the other peasants hard work was his. This may send the wrong moral message to children.

I like the quote at the end of the book because it showed how much puss and boots life has changed since the beginning and where he ended up.

I think if I were to read this to children, it would defiantly be second or 3 rd graders because younger kids would lose interest.

This book won the caldecott award. I thought this book was so so, I got kind of bored with it, so I know kids would too.

I plan to read this to my future classroom. It is a very good short tale that takes you along the journey of a boy who starts with barely anything, and ends up thriving in a beautiful castle. My students, I believe, would definitely enjoy this!

“Puss in Boots” was written by Charles Perrault in 1697 and has a Caldecott winning award. Overall, I enjoyed this story and the journey that it takes you along. I found myself not to enjoy the beginning or the ending, because I wanted to learn more detail about what happens to the two other brothers, and what happens to Marquis of Carabas and his Nobel cat after Marquis marries the princess.

This book tells the classic tale of Puss in Boots. I honestly had never heard of the famous cat until Shrek, so this was really fun reading about his story! The illustrations were wonderful

I can‘t say I agree with how he became a lord, but I still think the story is pretty cute!
This quote is also fun because it shows even as you get older you‘re always a child at heart!

This story is very interesting to me because this cat is so clever! The way he manipulates and tricks people is crazy because some of these situations I would‘ve never thought of!

Published in 1990 and awarded the Caldecott in 1991, this classic tale holds the story within the illustrations done by Fred Marcellino. The detail and color show the purest emotion and help the reader to understand the text with the story. However, the morals in this book are thrown to the wind because it‘s all about lying to get to the top. I know this is a traditional story, but I don‘t particularly like that aspect!

I named this cat Puss in Boots—fairytales have been my jam since before I learned to read. Corduroy wide leg hip huggers, wide belt and jacquard shirt (not to mention my haircut): pure 70s. #stepfordsummerparty @Cinfhen

Cinfhen Foxy!!! Lookin good 😍😍love it 6y
tournevis I bet that jacquard was made of fortrel too. I itch just looking at the picture. The 1970s were evil. 😘😘😘😘😘 6y

Lindy @tournevis We definitely had fortrel clothes in our closet then. It was a strange time. 6y
tournevis @Lindy Both my husband and I had the same fortrel overalls, the same year too, and we both have horrible skin memory of it. His was brown, mine was purple. We have pictures. 6y
