This had been in my Kindle library for a while. I chose it for my #BookSpin “Kindle TBR” category this month, which was where the BookSpin landed. It‘s a “summer camp” book dealing with some difficult themes (grief and mental illness). I thought I wasn‘t really connecting with the characters, but then teared up close to the end, so the narrative changed my mind along the way! The way Crane slowly develops the main characters is really well done⤵️

A difficult but heartwarming book. I‘d consider it late YA for content about self-harm. This book made me happy, angry, sad, and hopeful. The characters were a little one-dimensional sometimes, but the main character was beautifully written.

A touching story of friendship, love, growth, hope, and working through mental illness.

This is a YA story about teenagers at a summer camp for “kids with heightened mental or emotional states.” I liked it more than I thought I would, however, the ending was predictable. As an adult, I didn‘t relate to the campers as much as the counselors. Those folks have a tough job.

I definitely was not expecting this book to be what it was. It was a little on the darker side for YA, but it served a purpose and I really liked that. It reminded me a little bit of Girl, Interrupted in some ways. There's all these broken characters who are effecting each other and it's really interesting. I really enjoyed it.

"I don't really like the love interest. He's so...teenager-y (ridiculously unsubtle sexual innuendo abounds). And the writing? It's ok."

MAN, does this story have heart! I think it was Cassie & Zander's relationship that did me in. A meaningful female friendship will get me every time. And you guys? There's so much hope. It's a beautiful thing.?

Really enjoying this so far 😊 #quotes

Mimicking the emotional journey of our protagonist, it took quite some time for me to care much about about the other characters. Once I began to trust them, the cast came alive and I fell into their stories. There were a lot of blank spaces, moments or details that were given and forgotten, and the story could have been slowed down a little. I still really enjoyed this book.

I really enjoyed this quick read about a girl who is forced to attend a summer camp for teens with mental issues. I thought the author could've handled the issue of mental illness a little more grown up but overall it was a fun, funny, and original book that I couldn't really put down.

Loved this book

This was an easy read about a tough topic, but I was a little disappointed in how fast the last 25% felt. Mental health is an important subject and I think they could've done a little better in tying everything up. #LitsyAtoZ (Title - O)

Decided to officially put down Unbecoming and check this one out! I got it as a Kindle First a couple months ago (it's available for all now) and I'm nearly halfway done!

I've paused reading this book because I'm almost at the end, but I don't want to finish it yet because I love it so much. This book has made me laugh, cry, gasp, reflect, and feel such raw emotion that I haven't felt with a book in quite a while. This book is my new go-to suggestion.

This was a fun and easy read that dealt with some deep issues. BTW, that sentence is awesome.

I really enjoyed this book. The ending had all the feels. Even though the title has the love interest's name in it, the book is really about the friendship between Zander and Cassie. ❤️❤️❤️📚📚📚

This book was amazing. I am so happy I got it from kindle first. It was a fast and light read with a great story and plot that was the perfect light book to break up all of my serious ones. I loved this book too much and highly recommend it.

Just finished "The Odds of Loving Grover Cleveland" it was my last month's #kindlefirst pick. It was a pretty great quick read. I loved the characters and all of their flaws. ---

Thank goodness for Kindle! Sitting in court waiting with nothing to do so it's pretty easy to get some light reading in! Really liking this book, by the way.

It's the middle of the night and I think I have the flu so I'm going to start this and read until I pass out. This was my free Kindle book this month.

Got a free Kindle download on this little gem today. Never heard of it, but I am enjoying it!

Zoe's parents are worried about her. They don't understand that Nowhere is a place, and it's better there. She is shipped off to Camp Padua for at risk teens. The other campers are crazy- we have a bulimic, a cutter, a pathological liar a manic-depressant-bipolar-anorexic. And then you have Grover Cleveland who isn't crazy yet, but knows he will be. The more she knows them the more she opens up about herself. I loved this book. #kindlefirst

This was another quick read, but it was surprisingly fantastic! I'm so glad I took a chance on this one. I feel like the reader will get something new out of it every time. I think a couple of the characters could've been developed a little more and maybe dug into the issues a little deeper. That might just be me trying to use books as therapy though. Overall it's a great pick!

So far so good. I can't wait to see how these different characters develop.
