Children will love listening to this story in a classroom setting. The book has some repetition and includes some questions to prompt higher level thinking. A perfect choice for storytime!
The gingerbread man is one of my favorite stories to hear around Christmas time and there are so many fun retellings of it. This retelling really captures the excitement of the gingerbread mans escape and his adventures. This book also has a recipe on the back cover to make gingerbread men of your own!
“You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man!“ is a famous quote from the book.
The original story was published in 1875 and is traditional literature. In the tale, a little old woman and man decide to bake a gingerbread man. Once they place the gingerbread man in the oven, he magically comes to life and leaps out of the oven, running away before they can catch him. As he escapes, he taunts the old couple with the famous quote “Run, run, as fast as you can! You can't catch me, I'm the Gingerbread Man!“
“Run Run as fast as you can, You cant catch me in the gingerbread man“
I think this book sends children the message of trusting others, the gingerbread man thinks he can outsmart and trust everyone and it ends up getting him into a tricky situation with the fox
This book is very lively and has great illustrations. It is about a gingerbread man who comes to life and thinks he can outsmart everyone by running away and chanting run run as fast as you can you cant catch me im the gingerbread man! He eventually does get outsmarted by a fox

We made life size gingerbreadman in art class.
This is a great traditional book about a gingerbread man that popped out if the oven and started running away from the old man and lady that made him.
This would be a great book to use in the classroom because you can have the class make their own gingerbread men after reading the book.
“Run, run! Fast as you can! You can't catch me! I'm the gingerbread man!“
The illustrations and the fact that a gingerbread cookie is running from people is my favorite part of the story.
The gingerbread man by Jim Aylesworth was such a cute tale about the original story of the gingerbread man. It was such a cute read for little kids. It was about a couple who made a gingerbread and is soon as he popped out of the oven he ran from numerous different people. I think children would think the story is funny. Definitely a book I would choose to read to my class.

Run! Run!
Fast as you can!
You can't catch me!
I'm the gingerbread man!
This book uses repetition really well. The gingerbread man just keeps running away from people and then the kids can go along with his poem? Chant? Song? I dont know what you call it.
Run run. Fast as you can. You cant catch me. I'm the gingerbread man!
I like this page because the gingerbread man thought nobody could caught him until the fox did.
Traditional literature and was written in 1998. This book is a funny classic of an old couple baking a gingerbread man that came to life. The gingerbread man ran away from them, the butcher, a cow, and a pig. He finally to a fox and told that he couldn't caught him either, but the fox acted like he couldn't hear him until he pounced on him and ate him. The theme of this story is to be careful and smart when boasting about something.
Having a cup of cocoa while my kids watch The Gingerbread Man before drawing gingerbread houses. #surviving #teachersoflitsy #cupofcheer #seasonsreading
Love that I get to teach this book this time of year!!
This NYTB illustrated children‘s book, TL story is perfect for CR because of the repetitive lines and songs that the gingerbread man sings. The classic story of the cookie who runs away and tricks many people/animals only to be tricked and eaten by a fox in the end is one that children will enjoy for the humor and repetitive language. It is also great around the holidays when many families may be enjoying these cookies at home! #ucflae3414f17
My husband always has my kids (age 6) write and illustrate their own "books" for me for Christmas. This year they each did a re-telling of a classic tale. They are as hilarious and wonderful as you'd expect.
'twas the week before Christmas break, and all through my classroom...I'm just trying to survive. I'm doing themed days this week, and today was Gingerbread Day. I read The Gingerbread Man aloud to the kiddos, using what can only be described as my best Mr. Bill voice for the "Run, run, as fast as you can..." parts. and we ate gingerbread cookies, of course. #TeachersOfLitsy #booknsnack
