I loved this! End of the world is coming, but that doesn‘t stop Detective Hank Palace from investigating a potential murder. I am definitely adding this series to my list.

Confession I liked this book a lot and I did not think o was going to. I tried to read Underground Airlines by the same author and just could not get into it. I will be finishing this series.

How would you spend your last six months on earth? I believe this was the first pre-apocalyptic book I‘d ever read, and I absolutely loved it! I felt the book took a deep look at humanity while masking itself as a detective novel. Maybe I‘m reading too much into it. Can‘t wait to read the other two books in the trilogy!

I brought two books with me on our jaunt to the desert, but I'm being tempted by the books in our rental. Not Infinite Jest, though.

WOW, this book is good. Crime/detective novel set in a pre-apocalyptic landscape that is on the verge of chaos. It‘s a trilogy, so I will be reading them all 😎

Part #copsong, part apocalypse tale. "What's the point in solving murders if we're all gonna die soon anyway?" A fascinating and alarming question. (Still tbr, but I've heard good things!)

At first glance a solid and enjoyable police procedural with a very significant difference. In six months a 6.5km asteroid will hit the earth with catastrophic consequences. Winters explores the ramifications this certain doom bearing down on Earth, hundreds of thousands of miles away and yet ever-present, on lives, relationships and laws and creates something a little bit special.

Gripping murder mystery/end of the world mashup. I plan to search out the sequels.

I just finished and enjoyed this trilogy, and all 3 ebooks are currently $1.99 each! If you‘re looking for a trilogy for #LRC or are simply interested in this series, now is a good time to snap them up.

I found this book really interesting. If you take away the impending apocalypse, there really wouldn‘t be much to it other than a pretty standard murder mystery. But you really can‘t take away that coming asteroid, since it‘s really the point. It colors everyone‘s existence in the book and forces the reader to think thru a lot of questions. If you knew the world was going to end in 6 months, what would you do?

Good question, Goodreads! I'm certainly not done with this world, but I have some other stories to attend to first.

I had really high hopes for this one since I have enjoyed this author in that past. However, when all is said and done, I just don‘t care for police procedurals. Even with the unique backdrop coloring every part of this novel, it still boiled down to a detective story. I think many people will enjoy this but it wasn‘t for me.

Vacation was awesome but it‘s always wonderful to come home to our boys. Happy to be snuggled in with Toby reading. Skippy is in the background and Radar is too busy being pet to get in the photo.

discounted on the Nook store today, and I wanted to pass it along- I loved it, but I don't know if other people know about it. In this story, a meteor is headed to Earth, and there is nothing that can be done to avoid it. Damage is going to be catastrophic, potentially civilization-ending. Detective Hank Palace is a cop who finds himself investigating a murder, an action many see as unnecessary, given the circumstances. The first in a trilogy.

My idea of a good time last night was doing a purge of my unread books. I've been reading more on my Kindle lately and one of my goals this year was to get my physical TBR down to 75 books. They'll all be donated to my local thrift store or public library!

Reasons they didn't make the cut:
• I've had them for years
• I have a copy on my Kindle
• I can get them at the library
• I'd rather have them in paperback or ebook

In between trying to solve a murder, the book explores the interesting question...what would you do with just 6 months until the end of the world? Quite thought provoking...

About 11 hours in :) this was so much fun! I'm definitely going to have to find the sequels!

About two thirds of the way through this and loving it! Confession time: my sister told me to read this like two years ago and I'm only just getting to it... sometimes I can't just read books people recommend to me right away, does that happen to anyone else? So happy to be enjoying it for #24in48 now :)

#bittersweetsymphony #lyricalapril. In this book the world 🌎 is ending in six months via asteroid impact- that's the bitter. The sweet is Hank Palace has become a police detective and is investigating a possible murder - well Hank thinks it's murder everyone else thinks it's suicide .

kicking this one off this week. Captivating so far. I don't think I'd be as diligent as the main character given the circumstances. I want to feel like this takes place in the same time as the book 'We All Looked Up' with similar plot line but with high school kids.

Me and my husband are too used to this hospital routine ☹️ Escaping with my book while he rests.

Just finished this - so, so good. I fell in love with Henry Palace, looking forward to the next book!

I kind of hope this is actually how the book ends. This dude just finds out he is an Alien. My bet is on them all dying though.

The fascinating premise of this trilogy is that the world is going to end in six months when a comet will smash into Earth. But the main character, a cop, continues to do his job even as society starts to crumble around him. Definitely a "what would you do" story. ??

An enjoyable introduction to a compelling series. I am not one for detective novels but the end of the world theme is the part of the book that really stands out.

What do you do when you're a detective at the scene of a suicide and you suspect it might be a murder? What if there are no real clues? And an asteroid is going to wipe out the planet in 7 months? Is it worth your dwindling time?

After years of recommendations, I've finally read this. Glad I did. I should have gotten to it sooner. Or maybe it's the existential puzzle I needed right now.

Luckily it's a trilogy because I want more!

This has been on my tbr for ages. Now I'm kicking myself for waiting so long. At least the trilogy is complete so I don't have to wait. I'm really looking forward to the next two.

What a pageturner! I loved the premise and the writing, and the mystery was well done.

I started reading this on the bus ride home tonight and it's so interesting!!

Mr. Winters isn't the most eloquent writer in the world, but I'm really enjoying this book. As someone who's thought about mortality since as early as I can remember, this feels kind of light and fun to me. It's also funny how squeamish the author is about swear words. I could use some more adults who say "bull crap" and "holy moley" in my life.
