Jeeves in the Morning reflects the glories and absurdities of a vanished era as Jeeves and his master, Bertie Wooster, frolic through a series of outrageous and nightmarish doings.

10-24 Jul 2022 (audiobook)
The last in the Stephen Fry narrated audiobook collection. I shall miss Bertie Wooster and his ridiculous agreeableness. And Jeeves‘ somewhat troublesome solutions, which frequently land Bertie in further fixes.

So would anyone be interested in doing a group of just Wodehouse books?? This is kind of random so I didn't want to take up a whole group if no one else was even interested 😂 I also thought about trying to label it something like “happy fiction“ - Wodehouse, Georgette Heyer, just books that are feel-good and happy but not necessarily ROMANCE, if that makes sense?? Let me know if anyone is interested in something like this, as there are still ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) some blank spaces where I can start a new group! 2y
mabell As a Wodehouse super fan, 🙋‍♀️! Also, Heyer super fan and of happy fiction in general 😆 2y
TheAromaofBooks @mabell - Okay, I created the group (Group L) even if it ends up just being the two of us! 😂 2y

TheAromaofBooks @willaful - We still have two slots left, so feel free to join us!! The link to the sign-up for #LMPBC can be found on @suvata 's page as she is the one who so kindly sets all this up!!! When you go to the link, just scroll down to Group L!! 2y
TheAromaofBooks @mabell - Woohoo!! Sometimes I just need to read something that is just the right amount of silly! 😆 2y

Thank you for the #WondrousWednesday tag @Eggs !! I have been tagged in a few posts like this lately and have been TERRIBLE about actually posting them!

1. Probably P.G. Wodehouse or Agatha Christie. However, I've also read a LOT of Nora Roberts, all the Amelia Peabody books by Elizabeth Peters, and the entire 87th Precinct series by Ed McBain lol
2. I literally read everywhere, like while I'm doing chores and walking from place to place. ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) My favorite place varies a lot of from season to season. I love our front porch when it is warm, we have a couple comfy couches, a window seat, an amazing bed... we kind of designed this house with reading time in mind 😂
3. I do! I actually do find them encouraging when I set a goal for them and try to accomplish it.

#SundaySoapbox - love this hashtag @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks !!!

I always recommend Wodehouse, and the tagged book is one of my all-time favorites, although in general, it's hard to go wrong. I also love Daniel Pinkwater's absolutely zany sense of humor - The Snarkout Boys and the Avocado of Death always makes me laugh.

Some books I absolutely love so much that I want to recommend them, but am scared to in case the person doesn't love them ⬇

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) like I do - An Old-Fashioned Girl by Louisa May Alcott, The Scent of Water by Elizabeth Goudge, The Blue Castle by L.M. Montgomery, Swallows and Amazons by Arthur Ransome, and so many others that I love and reread again and again. ❤

Wanna play @kimmypete1 @UwannaPublishme @Nute @Addison_Reads ? I'd love to see some of your recommendations!!

Typical Jeeves & Wooster. Bertie‘s shenanigans always make me smile if not laugh out loud — something I needed today. My daughter brought me this framed picture of our sweet boy. That helped as well; I miss him.

I had a little trouble deciding who my favorite literary character IS for the Day 4 post for #LitsySummerCamp but finally settled on Bertie Wooster. However, I'm not sure what exactly Bertie would do at camp - I'm inclined to think that he would spend most of his time avoiding activities whilst being pursued by a young woman intent on helping him improve his mind 😂

@ImperfectCJ

Ruthiella With Bertie comes Jeeves, who would be most useful, however! 😀 3y
Laughterhp I started listening to My Man Jeeves on audio! My first PG Wodehouse! 3y
TheAromaofBooks @Ruthiella - Right?? And I can totally see Jeeves doing ALL the activities with completely competence 😂 3y
TheAromaofBooks @Laughterhp - Wodehouse's writing can be somewhat formulaic, but the formula is so perfect & his sense of timing just brilliant. He can always lift my spirits, even when I think I'm not in a Wodehouse mood 😆 3y

I decided I needed to read something a little more lighthearted after the last few books. The shenanigans of Bertie and Jeeves sounded like a good idea. This did not disappoint.

I have a new favorite humor author and I blame it all on @TheAromaofBooks !
I felt like I was in the middle of a rollicking slapstick comedy from beginning to end. Bumbling Bertie sure gets himself into quite a tangled web of mishaps, but somehow clever Jeeves comes to his rescue. Besides all the hearty laughs, I couldn‘t get enough of P.G.‘s stunning prose.
Thanks for hooking us up, Sarah!
I‘m still working on column G for
#BookSpinBingo

TheAromaofBooks YAY! I'm so glad you actually enjoyed it - I was afraid it may not live up to the hype in the end! 😂 There are so many other good Wodehouses to read!!! 4y
AmyK1 I blame it on Sarah @TheAromaofBooks too! It‘s now become my mission to collect all the Jeeves books 😂 4y
TheAromaofBooks While the Bertie/Jeeves books are my favorites, he has written some hilarious standalones as well. The Girl on the Boat, Money in the Bank, and A Damsel in Distress all come to mind. I LOVE Blandings Castle (Lord Emsworth is a wonderful anti-hero), and even love Psmith although he should be objectively aggravating. I'm so glad I've gotten you both hooked!! @AmyK1 😂 4y
MemoirsForMe @TheAromaofBooks @AmyK1 P.G. will certainly hold a special place in my heart and my funny bone! 😁 I was so impressed by his way with words. Thx for the other titles. I may try one of his stand alones next time. 🙌🏻 4y
PurpleyPumpkin So glad you enjoyed this book! I‘ve not read the books, but the series of shows was absolutely hilarious. The books are waiting for me...👍🏽 4y

Thank you so much for tagging me @UwannaPublishme & @Jerdencon !!
1. Sooo many, but I think P.G. Wodehouse has to be pretty high on the list.
2. I really don't have questions for him; he just seems like a super fun guy to adopt as a fun uncle & have come to all the family shenanigans.
3. Over a thousand. I have a neverending project to reread all of them & jettison the ones I'm never going to read again, but....! :-D

Trust Bertie Wooster to know the value of a good sleep in! This quote is from the first story about Jeeves and Wooster “Extricating Young Gussie” 😂😂

Cinfhen Jeeves reminds me of PeeWee Herman and Mr Bean 😂 7y
Centique He does in this photo! But he‘s super competent and a master of manipulating Bertie 👍😉 7y

Jeeves in the Morning | P. G. Wodehouse

It was one of those cases where you approve the broad, general principle of an idea but can't help being in a bit of a twitter at the prospect of putting it into practical effect. I explained this to Jeeves, and he said much the same thing had bothered Hamlet.

I love Wodehouse. So silly, so funny, it's perfect escapism. This is full of his typical situations, scout-inflicted housefires, chaotic fancydress parties, shifting romantic alliances and a stolen police uniform. Sublime.

Dragon Bertie Wooster and Jeeves. All time best comedic duo 😀 8y
