Not bad! A few tropes but a fun easy read. May pick up the second one. I have been in a horrible reading rut and this helped me out of it!
I think I‘m addicted to starting books. 😬 Gotta focus on finishing some of them up! Haha!
I was completely enraptured by this story from the first chapter. Kali is a character that has to deal with tremendous hardship but ends up finding her true self. Deven is so caring and loving it was only natural that there paths would intertwine.
Well, I officially have two weeks of no work because my school district has closed. I am going to try and keep myself occupied with lots of reading, and I‘m also going to be working on a few online classes I‘ve been putting off. I got a few Prime books and have some library checkouts waiting. Despite the ongoing worry and anxiety, I am excited to spend time with my cats and my books!
I‘ve been so busy! A few reviews to come to cover the books I read in the past few weeks.
I was intrigued by the title, as it reminds me of the Arabian Nights/1001 Nights. I expected the main character to be the 100th queen after a line of dead wives. This story, however, is entirely different. And it is very enjoyable. I was not a fan of the romance, but the friendship between Kalinda and Jaya was beautifully written.
This book was a weird ride. Jaya totally stole my heart. The main character kalinda was a little flat. Perhaps more development will be had for her in the next installment. The world building was strong, largely because it drew from old realities.
Amazing story of how one girl overthrows an empire and learns that she‘s not just a girl. Romance, action, and more await the reader of this spectacular fantasy!
The plot was fun and I really loved the characters. Emily knows how to write a villain I absolutely hated him so much through the whole book he is written so well. But where King really shines is through her world building the mythos that inspired the story is so wonderful and thoughtout I just wanted more and more of it. The only downside for me was the instalove but even that wasn't too bad since the characters are so likable.
Fictional land that feels a lot like India. The trajectory of the main characters life changes and she must fight for the freedom to live as she wants. Throw in some suppressed magical powers, suspense, a character you want dead and you have an engrossing book.

When I saw the prompt for #Sand this was the first thing that popped into my mind. The way that Kalinda and Deven's journey is described as they move through the desert was beautiful 😊 really need to pick this series back up and finish it ☺
Finished my first book for the #24in48 #readathon 😀 I‘m now 6 hours into reading and need to do another 6 to get caught up for the day. This book was enjoyable and an easy read thanks to audible. @24in48 #bookstagram #litsy #littens #bibliophile
Listening to The Hundredth Queen on audiobook while I cooked and prepared this for dinner. Now eating my taco salad. #24in48 #keto #dinner #litsy #littens #bookstagram #bibliophile #readathon @24in48
I need bed. It‘s 1 am here and it‘s past my bedtime. Anyway, I got 2 and a half hours out of tonight. I bounced around with reading Crown of Midnight (reread) and Renegades. Because I‘m so tired, I put Renegades down and listened to The Hundreth Queen on Audiobook. How‘s everyone doing with #24in48 @24in48 #24in48readathon #readathon #bookstagram #litsy #littens #bibliophile #goodnight
So the first like...half was kind of uncomfortable for me. The concept of choosing women to add to your stack of 70+ wives just... *cringe and shiver* Also not a fan of insta-love which is basically 99% of the relationship the mc has. What really peaked my interest was the magic and I definitely want to see more of that. I was surprised by the lineage reveal (and I'm a sucker for those) so I think I'll try book two.
Listening to these again in anticipation of book 4 dropping soon, did not pay attention to when that was so I started 3 months early. Oh well, May and August are only 3 months apart.
Having this Kindle is making me read way too many books at once! Haha I can‘t control myself! Started this book now, it sounded too good to resist!
A really cool world was built in this book. Action packed and dramatic. Can‘t wait to see what happens in book 2!
I really enjoyed this book. Great storyline and a fun world to immerse yourself in.
Good but not fabulous ⭐️⭐️⭐️
I liked the strong emphasis on female friendships and an interesting use of revisionist history for personal gain by a character. 🙄 for her instantly swooning over the first man she's seen in years, who is of course handsome and kind and totally off limits. Still enjoyable, though, I love reading the power dynamics in stories like these.
Nothing says self care like take out and a good book on a Sunday.
Subgenre: girls with forbidden magic powers are forced into royal arranged marriages but they immediately fall in love with their husband's second in command.
I don't know how to explain how quickly I fell into this book.. It captured my attention and didn't let go once.
I have so many emotions I don't know what to read next...
Finally getting to read this #kindlefirst I got a few months ago.
Prime membership has some nice perks.
This is about an orphan girl who become a warrior. Sounds pretty awesome to me...
Enough books for #24in48, you think? Plus my summer solstice books and ALA ARCs...and realistically I'll probably only get through 4-7 depending on how many graphic novels I read. But it doesn't hurt to be prepared! 😁
This book is just so pretty❤️❤️❤️ Yes, it's pretty predictable and has troupes but I still got into it and want to read the next one.

This one came out June 1, but I just finished the NetGalley ARC I received. Enjoyed this YA fantasy. The characters were engaging, the world felt just developed enough for this story without going overboard, and there were multiple twists that took me by surprise. Looking forward to the next!
✨As an orphan ward of the Sisterhood, eighteen-year-old Kalinda is destined for nothing more than a life of seclusion and prayer.
A visit from the tyrant Rajah Tarek disrupts Kalinda‘s life. Within hours, she is ripped from the comfort of her home, set on a desert trek, and ordered to fight for her place among the rajah‘s ninety-nine wives and numerous courtesans. Her only solace comes from her guard, the stoic but kind Captain Deven Naik.
😱 I can't put this story down. It's amazing!!

OMG how much am I LOVING this book! It's a mix of The Selection and The Throne of Glass with a slight twist of Biblical Esther (but secular). I can't wait until the last 2 come out!
I sped through this book, I could hardly put it down! It is a great start to what should be an amazing trilogy of fantasy novels, which, though it is set in a very different society to our own, does tackle some difficult and extremely relevant topics! Definitely worth reading! (And how amazing is that cover!?)
Spent an hour reading this amazing book, having some great coffee (with slightly better latte art than last time), and enjoying the sunshine! Great afternoon, and now it's time for a beach BBQ with @sarahbethrushton #beachbbq #latteart
Started reading this today...and giggling incessantly. At least I'm getting better. When it first arrived, I calmly received my package from the UPS guy...
...and then screamed forever, while opening it,
...and then laughed maniacally.
Yeah...I've been waiting on this for a good while. #Goodreads first reads isn't always the fastest. But it's here! Aaaaaaaaaahhhh!!!

Just started reading this book as part of Amazon's Kindle First! I've not read a lot yet, but it seems like a very promising start to an amazing fantasy series! Fans of Sarah J Maas will definitely love this!
Omg this book was freaking awesome!!!! It's the perfect crossover for Young Adult and Adult fantasy lovers! I adored Kali and Deven and I can't wait to read book 2! I need it now!!!
