With a ruling council scheming to gain power, Carys and Andreus are faced with only one optionto take part in a Trial of Succession that will determine which one of them is worthy of ruling the kingdom. As sister and brother, Carys and Andreus have always kept each other safefrom their secrets, from the court, and from the monsters lurking in the mountains beyond the kingdoms wall. But the Trial of Succession will test the bonds of trust and family. With their country and their hearts divided, Carys and Andreus will discover exactly what each will do to win the crown. #2021Book53
I already knew I liked Charbonneau's writing before I started this book, but this one sucked me in even more quickly than I expected. I had to force myself to put it down at night so I could go to bed, because I just wanted to keep reading to find out what would happen next. The characters are great and you never truly know what side anyone is on. I can't wait to get my hands on the second book!

This would have been better if the storyline didn't depend on the kids not talking to each other. Like talk to your brother! And talk to your sister dude! So much could have been avoided... Or even have made the plot a little thicker with deception/the breaking of trust. But... Overall a good book. Already planning on picking up the second one in couple books.

Linear I'm only 64% of the way through. But I'm all " if yall where so damn close, why wont you confront your sister about your suspicion?" Why didnt they work out a plan, why is dreas being all shifty!! Ugh what's going through his head! 6y
RyeAnnUh @Linear I know right?? If I was best friends with someone and someone else tells me something about them I'd be like "hey, so and so told me this..." Like just open your mouths and talk!! Lol. 6y

This is one of those books that is "just fine." Carys is an interesting character and by the end of the book I got really curious as to where the 2nd books is gonna go. Her brother was not as solid a character.

It took me FOREVER to finish this. The plot was good, the characters had quirks, fears, and emotions, all of which make a good character, but there could have been so much more depth. This book needed fleshing out badly. It had all the elements of a great read, but was flat, slow and didnt get good until the last 1/4 (which made me glad I didnt abandon it). If the sequel is anything like the last part of this book, I will definitely read it!

✨The cover for #dividingeden is kinda simple, but I really love it! The book sounds so good too. I can‘t wait to get to it...eventually. 😂😂😂✨

Zelma I‘m looking forward to this one too. I really liked her book The Testing, though I didn‘t finish the trilogy. (edited) 7y
AngelErin @Zelma I didn‘t know she has other books! If I like this one then I‘ll have to check that series out. 😊😊 7y
Zelma @AngelErin it‘s kind of like Divergent crossed with The Hunger Games , but still pretty enjoyable. I liked it a bit more than Divergent. 7y

From the first few lines of this book, I felt I was in for something awful. The characters are all unlikeable. I‘m curious where this story goes but not enough to actually pick up the next book in this series.

The siblings spent a lot of time trying to hide “secrets” that were not such a big deal, and also the villain reveal was kind of predictable. Good ending though!

I finished this one in a day and a half as I could seem to put it down! Loved how the story was more focused on the sibling relationship rather than romantic ones (getting sick of the usual love triangles so it was a nice change). Can't wait for the next book 😊

Ok so I knew nothing about this book other than that the author is really cool. I was discouraged when I saw the not so great reviews coming in so I put off reading it. But let me tell you - this story was one of the best I have read all year. Sure it needed some polishing here and there but it blew me away and I cannot tell you how excited I am for the next one 💛💙

Linear I really think it's people hyping up or putting down a book that messes with how people perceive it when reading. So, I go into books " blind" with 0 expectations, and in most cases no idea what it's about. And I'm usually pleased with the blind book jump. 6y

This book really did not pick up for me until the last quarter. The characters were inconsistent, having huge personality and thought changes without any reason or explanation. And there were a ton of misunderstandings that could have been fixed with a single conversation. That said, the end was pretty good.

Finished this audiobook. I liked this book way more than I was expecting to. It takes talent to make readers hate characters with a passion and that's how I feel about 2 specific here. It was obvious who was behind the plotting though.

Linear I am 64% done and I'm kinda leaning to imogen as the plotter... but I'm not sure. I'm frustrated with characters but I dont hate anyone.. yet... im trying to give Dreas the benifit of the doubt. 6y
Cityofamber @Linear I completely forgot about this review 😂😂 6y
Linear @Cityofamber I find it easier to talk about books I've read, when or after I've read them. So I look through their tags and comment. Its easier than trying to keep up with my litsy news feed lol sorry to bring up the past 6y
Cityofamber @Linear it‘s no problem I do the same and look through books as I read them. According to goodreads I read this in August 2017 so had to refresh myself on the characters 😂 6y

I loved Carys, but i hated Andreus the moment we are introduced to him. Not only that, but for twins who are inseparable they were very easily separated.

The way the book was written wasn't appealing, and it had me struggling to remain invested in the story.

It breaks my heart when I don't like a book, but I did like certain elements (i.e. the plot, Carys, the vague magic that made no sense but totally called from the get-go).

2.5⭐️

398.2 The shame it sounds good. I was just going to buy this. Maybe I'll just wait for my library to have it. 7y

Currently Reading ?

I'm starting this tomorrow because I literally just finished Battlemage and I need a minute to recover. Seriously. I'm sat there like *bites nails* "he wouldn't really do that...would he?!" Frantically trying to remember if it's a YA or for younger children ?? *breathes* okay. I'm good. Right.

I'm looking forward to starting this one because I've heard nothing but good things! ?

It was bit slow to start off; but when it picked up, I couldn't put it down! The book is full of adventure, political intrigue, sibling rivalry, and PLOT TWISTS!! It also reiterated the fact that you can never trust a priestess. Overall, It is a must read for 2017.
