Overchoice: Too Many Choices, Too Little Time (First Edition)
Overchoice: Too Many Choices, Too Little Time (First Edition) | Christian Glide, Fredrick M. Chilson
6 posts
Examining the increasingly common dilemma experienced by consumers who face an overabundance of choices, Overchoice: Too Much to Choose From, Too Little Time provides a much-needed context for the quandary and offers tools to help cope with it. The book creates an unobstructed overchoice narrative. It examines overchoice as a psychological theme and establishes its sociological foundations. It explores the economic nature of overchoice and its impact on the marketplace. It provides an overview of consumer culture, consumer overload, and the resultant consumer disenchantment. Lastly, it addresses the informational complexity created by overchoice. Developed to help readers recognize that the most plentiful choice is not necessarily the best one, Overchoice shows them how to analyze and make discerning decisions about the abundance that is regularly offered to consumers today. This timely text is well-suited for courses in marketing, consumer behavior, social psychology, and economics. Christian Gilde received his Ph.D. from the University of Bath and is now an associate professor of business in the Business and Technology Department at the University of Montana Western. His teaching interests include marketing and consumer behavior, and his research focuses on consumer psychology and culture. The former operations manager for a multi-million dollar company, Fredrick Chilson went on to pursue his Ph.D and now serves as a professor of business and the chair of the Business and Technology Department at the University of Montana Western. Dr. Chilson is also a managing editor for the Journal of Excellence in Business Education.

#WinterReadathon #BookNookBuddies2022 #SeriesReads #BookSpinBingo #HolidayReads #ReadMyRoom #PenniesPerPage

Gonna start my holiday reads off this week with one of these (1 ebook & 1 physical) #Backlog books are accounted for & on hand for easy picking.

I think, I‘ve got myself organized now…I think🙄🤣

Time seems to be flying by leaving me bereft of almost all emotions more times than I‘ll ever admit. Thankfully books are a comfort & joy🤓📚♥️

I just discovered Fairy Loot, a YA fantasy subscription service. Yesterday I stumbled across Shelf Love Crate for YA fantasy. I just got hooked on Owl Crate merch over the summer, although I‘ve yet to subscribe. What is going on? How many of these are there? Are there any bookish subscription services that are NOT YA? I mean, I‘m 45 but I love bookish goodies! Here‘s a picture of our new kitten, named Klaus after The Originals 😻 #kittensoflitsy

BookNAround What a pretty boy. 5y
AmyG He‘s so Cute! 5y
RainyDayReading Nightworms is a Horror book subscription service and Unplugged Book Box I think alternates between Adult and YA but aside from that all the big subscription boxes are all YA. Owlcrate, Shelflove, Unicorn Crate, Fairyloot, Faecrate, Spearcraft etc. all YA. Aww so pretty! 5y

Bookgirl @RainyDayReading oh dear, a horror book subscription service could be dangerous for me! 5y
cherinium Once Upon a Book Club has an adult and a YA option. I've been getting the Adult box for about 5 months now and love it. It doesn't stick to a single genre, either, which I really like. I am an eclectic reader and love the variety. 5y
RainyDayReading @Bookgirl It‘s really cool! I‘ve been dying to subscribe to it but haven‘t had the money yet. They‘re a little different in that they focus more on the books and less on the extraneous goodies. But most of the books are signed or from independent publishing houses etc. The packages are themed and they usually have 2-3 books in them. 5y
Bookgirl @cherinium will def check that out, thanks! @RainyDayReading I don‘t really buy books so it‘s a struggle for me to think of subscribing...but these are tempting!!! 5y

jfalkens Read what you want, if your feeling a favorite then you might have a hard time getting into your current read and then little to no reading gets done, at least that's what happens to me. 6y
Ddzmini @jfalkens I know sometimes that happens to me as well 😋 6y

I'm trying to decide which two books to take on my trip tomorrow - Unfortunately, I cannot take them all 😩

Bookzombie I'm not that far in the series yet, but I vote for the Stroud book. 🙂 7y

I am undecided on what to read next from my library pile. Suggestions? I thought it would be The Dry but I feel hesitant to pick it up.

Christyco125 Behind her eyes was good and suspenseful. 7y
Denisereads75 @Christyco125 thanks for your suggestion! I heard good things about it. I still haven't decided but I think I will start with that one. 7y

#JuneBookBugs #day12 #CantEven I look at the state of my TBR shelves, and I can't even make a choice about what to read next. I have an abundance of riches, but I'm still buying more to add to the stacks. I have a serious problem I think.📚📚📚📚📚📚

AThousandLives87 I have this same problem!!! 7y
