I enjoy watching Kenda on ID, was excited when I got into reading this and it didn't disappoint. He says it the way it is...
Omg,what a career Joe Kenda had. This book is really eye opening to what detectives, cops see and go through.
I highly recommend this book
I love Joe Kenda AKA Homicide Hunter and miss watching his show. I listened to this on audiobook and had a hard time putting it down over the last couple of days. Even my non book reading husband was interested in this and got mad when I listened without him. 😆 Lt. Kenda is awesome imo and it felt like we were having some beers with him while he told us stories. Be forewarned, he goes into graphic detail about a lot of the cases he‘s worked, ⬇️
This book is so incredibly good. I adore Joe Kenda. This is definitely not a easy read for everyone. He goes in detail about a lot of the crimes more so then in the show. His ability to make you laugh and shock you all at the same time is quite something. This is my 5th non fiction book of the year and I do highly recommend it if you like true crime. I am also from Colorado so it was really interesting to read.
I am a true crime Junkie and prior to my father in law passing he and I would watch Joe Kenda‘s. This is my last book of 2019 that I read. So good!
This book was really good. Kenda is funny and the stories he tells are outrageous. So many shocking scenarios. It didn‘t leave me feeling that the world is an awful place. People are flawed but there is good as well. To help this idea, he even talks about his family throughout. Warning: the subject matter is for mature audiences and those not easily squeamish.
Still trying to get over this nasty infection & my head hurts too bad to read. I‘m spending my day with Kenda....
I really enjoyed parts of this book - mostly because I love Homicide Hunter on ID. I even recognized a few cases from the show that were mentioned in the book. But other parts of this book were painful to listen to - he often comes across as very misogynistic and judgmental. He can talk about men and their crimes easily, but somehow always ties the women to sex and “perversions.” It got annoying. It‘s ok if you like the show. #audiobook
Forgot my lunch so it's what can I scrounge up to eat. At least I've got Joe to keep me company.
Been struggling through not reading when I got this one in at the library. 100 pages in a day and I'm ready to sit with a Coke and enjoy more. #truecrime
Audio cleaning today! Not exactly how I want to spend my day, but what can ya do?!
This was tough. I was about to cry uncle when I saw this on my shelves. I need to read and return to @DGRachel

It‘s a good thing I love this show so much, otherwise I might not even finish the book. I get that it is written in the style in which he speaks, which does not translate to the page well, but come on editor. Soles. SOLES.
Love the show and this book is great! Joe is a really good narrator!!

I love Homicide Hunter on ID. I did not love this book. If I'm honest, this is probably closer to a pan than a so-so, but I'm rounding up because I'm not ready to be *that* person. Detailed Goodreads review above (forgive the autocorrect error in Kenda's name that I just noticed...dang it).
I did find this interesting.

It's bedtime, so just water for me now. Really hoping to finish this soon. I've found it to be a rather disappointing read so far. 😔
Joe's voice doesn't always shine through in this book, but this is one of those moments where I can picture him in his chair, narrating a segment from Homicide Hunter. I can practically see the knowing smirk on his face. 😊
Yep. Joe makes me laugh.
After quickly becoming hooked on Homicide Hunter earlier this year, I was thrilled to get the chance to read an ARC.
Packed with stories from Kenda's incredible career (92% solve rate), this book is a page turner. There are some parts that are difficult to read, so be warned. If you like true crime, read this. You won't be disappointed. Rating: 5/5.
Thanks to Netgalley & Center Street for the ARC. This is a voluntary honest review.
Some may know of Lt. Kenda from his tv show Homicide Hunter. In Kenda's first book, he takes you through his career as a detective in Colorado Springs. The book is filled with anecdotes that are tragic and violent. His use of cop humor lightens the otherwise heavy material. I recommend for fans of the show and true crime aficionados.

THIS IS HAPPENING!!! ???????? I'm at 20% in and it's every bit as good as you'd think. When I quote him IRL I refer to him as "my Yogi, Detective Lieutenant Joe Kenda, the Homicide Hunter."
