I came home to find an unexpected package in my mail. Thank you so much @TheAromaofBooks ! You are so thoughtful. #litsylove

TheAromaofBooks Yay!! That one wasn't for me, but that seemed like all the more reason to pass it on to someone else who thought it sounded interesting!! 😁 4y

Okay, friends! Here are some choices I am considering - any thoughts? I will say that Rogue Princess is more sci-fi than fantasy, but that cover!!! 😍
@Chrissyreadit @Laughterhp @Sace

Andrew65 Not read it but Hunted is speaking to me. 4y
TheAromaofBooks Isn't that cover fantastic? I love the way the bow & arrow make up part of the title. 4y
Laughterhp I actually read Hunted for an LMPBC and didn‘t really like it (it was my pick). So I wouldn‘t want to read it again. I really like the sound of Bryony and Roses, Princess of Thorns, or Miss Carter. But I‘d be down with any but Hunted. 4y

Sace Miss Carter and Bryony appeal to me the most. I support @Laughterhp not wanting to read it again 😂 4y
Chrissyreadit I read Hunted too. I thought it was ok, not good or great. 4y
Chrissyreadit I have Bryony and Thorns on my kindle, but have not read either yet. 4y
Chrissyreadit I think Miss Carter, Rogue Princess or Bryony all sound appealing 🎉🙌🌻😻 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Laughterhp @Sace @Chrissyreadit - Well I couldn't resist the siren call of buying some new books ( 😬) so Bryony is on its way to me anyway - that's the one I'm leaning towards for my pick!! Love a good Beauty & the Beast retelling!!! 4y
Chrissyreadit Yes- Beauty and The Beast is my absolute favorite fairytale and retelling option. I‘m kind of surprised I have not read it yet so this sounds perfect! 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Chrissyreadit - I found it on some random list of fairytale retellings. I'm excited about reading it!! 4y

Another book I never would have picked up if it weren‘t for the LPMBC. After being traumatized with what happens in the first six pages I settled in for this fairy tale retelling of Sleeping Beauty‘s daughter, Aurora, and her quest to save her brother and reclaim the kingdom. A prince with his own troubles accompanies her on this Mulan-LOTR mashup, adventure, romance, romp. I enjoyed the metaphoric writing that had some good messages. Pick!

Addison_Reads I'm a sucker for fairytale retellings. 😁 5y
Bookzombie I already stacked this, but now I‘m really curious about those first six pages! 🙂 5y
readordierachel Ooh, sounds fun! 5y

Reggie @Addison_Reads I‘ve never been big on them but this one and Stepsister kinda has me wanting to try Christina Henri‘s books. 5y
Reggie @Bookzombie I will tell you what happens in those 6 pages if you want but just know that these were the faces of all my coworkers when I told them what happened..😲😟😳 5y
Reggie @readordierachel it was and kind of a nice little transition from all the horror of Halloween into fairytale into who knows what‘s next. Lol 5y
Bookzombie @Reggie lol. I think I will wait until I can pick this up. 🙂 5y

This book was a part of a postal book club and I don‘t think I would have heard of it otherwise. Even though I found it somewhat predictable, I enjoyed it anyway. Nicklaas is adorable and the story was fun. I had some structural problems with the plot and worldbuilding, but not enough to really mind.

I‘m a big fan of #audiobook(s). Even if I own a print copy, I‘m far more likely to read a book if I have access to the audio version—like today, with Princess of Thorns, a YA fairytale-inspired story I really enjoyed. #30junebooks

This book was ok, but it seemed like a lot of a jumbled mess. There were too many different ideas that weren‘t fully fleshed out and I feel like a lot of editing for clarity was needed. I did enjoy it, particularly at the end. 3.25*

Finally finished Princess of Thorns by Stacey Jay. I enjoyed the story but for some reason I found the writing hard to click with, I was never eager to pick the book up after putting it down which is why it took me a week to finish it! A nice retelling though, good Sleeping Beauty retellings are difficult to find!

This has gotten some really harsh reviews on Goodreads for various reasons, and while it isn't the strongest fairytale-reimagining out there - and in fact, tries to reimagine a BUNCH - it doesn't seem to deserve the vicious pans, either. (It's a standalone, do you really expect an ENTIRE history spelled out?) It's frothy but enjoyable, with a heroine who at least isn't totally hateful, even if she's a little bit of an idiot on occasion.

I love reimagined fairytales, especially ones in which the princess becomes her own heroine; so far, this is kind of a melange of a /bunch/ of tales, not just "Sleeping Beauty," which sort of does it a disservice, but it's still enjoyable! (And it's a standalone!) #princessofthorns #staceyjay

Worked all weekend. BOOOOOO but it was so slow that I was able to read this. Just picked this book up for $6.50. Always a plus when you find cheap books to fulfill your habit lol. I am huge fan of fairy tale retellings. It follows the daughter of Sleeping Beauty. It slowed down in the middle for me but it picked back up.

Oh my, the relationship in this is just the sweetest! Also, any book with a princess pretending to be a prince is destined to be an entertaining read. It's a pick for sure!
