Thirty-seven years in the force, and if I was allowed to choose just one thing to erase from my mind, whats inside that room would be it. Thats what a LAPD Lieutenant tells Detectives Hunter and Garcia of the Ultra Violent Crimes Unit as they arrive at one of the most shocking crime scenes they have ever attended. In a completely unexpected turn of events, the detectives find themselves joining forces with the FBI to track down a serial killer whose hunting ground sees no borders; a psychopath who loves what he does because to him murder is much more than just killing its an art form. Carter's Robert Hunter Series is so good. This one grabbed me at the beginning and then he left me hanging at the end! Ugh! Now I have to wait until my library gets the next one in the series from another library. My library is wonderful, they do an interlibrary loan from libraries across the U.S.A. I love that they do that for us bookaholics. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌗

Hunter and Garcia team up with the FBI‘s NCAVC to solve these crimes. They have a difficult time trying to find their serial killer and bring him to justice. They don‘t understand the murders, the message the killer leaves for them and how he picks his victims. It certainly is something they‘ve never seen before. The book also ends on a cliffhanger. I can‘t recommend this series enough. #SeriesLove2023 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView

Day 19 #AdventRecommends October Book 1

October was definitely the month of the Series reads and it was great to catch up on one of my favourite Crime Fiction Series, with the next book in the exceptional Robert Hunter Series by Chris Carter. This is book 9 in the series and kept up the same very high standard. Definitely strongly recommend this series, but be aware the murders are gruesome, but what a lead character.

Another winner from the pen of Chris Carter. He does write a great crime fiction book. A serial killer that is targeting a range of people of different ages, genders and ethnic groupings. Each time looking different than the last. Hunter and Garcia work with the FBI to find the killer. A great read and a number of twists and surprises in the book. Great cliffhanger at the end.

EadieB This was an excellent novel by Chris Carter. The scenes are grisly and the deaths are many and not for the faint of heart. Chris Carter tells the most terrifying stories as he is the best criminal psychologist out there and this one is sure to terrify you. If you love mystery thrillers that you can‘t put down, then you will love this one. 2y

PageShifter Wow!! Have fun!! Too bad I have not read the first eight books so can't join 😒 2y
Andrew65 @PageShifter Yes a group of us that have read the series together and this one is next for us. If you haven‘t read them it is a good series but quite dark. 2y
PageShifter I love dark stories 👍 2y

Another solid book by Chris Carter. Well-written, intriguing, and absolutely disturbing as always, but I felt disconnected and really distant to the culprit in a way that it was a bit too clinical and too much analyzing the unsub, without a real connection. Still good though! But… how the book ended… I know I‘ll love the next one. Can‘t wait!

EadieB @Tove_Reads I've got a copy of this one and the one after it. I need to read it! 2y

This series gets more gruesome and inventive with each book. Part of me is desperate to meet Chris Carter and part of me would be terrified to encounter the mind behind these compelling stories. Robert Hunter and Carlos Garcia certainly earn their pay. Oh and that ending had me diving into the next book pronto!

I've loved reading these books, they really are addicting and I couldn't wait to get to the next one. But tonight I start the last one (#9) and before even getting to page 1 I know I'll be sad that there isn't another one right there waiting for me. Thankfully #10 comes out next month, but then I'll just be stuck with this feeling all over again

So excited to start this. It‘s the newest of the detective hunter novels and I just absolutely love Chris Carter‘s work! Only discovered him this year and read all his books practically in one go. Bloody brilliant! 📚

In the first half of the book, there was not enough of Robert Hunter. I really like his character, so that was disappointing.
But the book fulfilled my expectations. The idea behind the murderers is interesting, the story is tense and the ending fantastic!

The story is engaging & horrifying in equal measure.  I love the fact the author can scare with his horrific descriptions whilst still keeping us engaged with his character development.  All the favourites are back, complete with a couple of characters from previous novels.  The story is fast pacing and has twists and turns that you don't see coming.  This is another brilliant example of a horror/crime novel which I urge anyone to read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

To keep himself occupied during those endless, lonely, sleepless hours, Hunter took to books, reading everything and anything he could get his hands on as if reading somehow empowered him. Books became his sanctuary. His fortress. His shield against the never-ending nightmares
