From the author of the New York Times bestseller Juliet comes a mesmerizing novel about a young scholar who risks her reputationand her lifeon a thrilling journey to prove that the legendary warrior women known as the Amazons actually existed.Look for special features inside. Join the Random House Readers Circle for author chats and more. Oxford lecturer Diana Morgan is an expert on Greek mythology. Her obsession with the Amazons started in childhood when her eccentric grandmother claimed to be one herselfbefore vanishing without a trace. Dianas colleagues shake their heads at her Amazon fixation. But then a mysterious, well-financed foundation makes Diana an offer she cannot refuse. Traveling to North Africa, Diana teams up with Nick Barran, an enigmatic Middle Eastern guide, and begins deciphering an unusual inscription on the wall of a recently unearthed temple. There she discovers the name of the first Amazon queen, Myrina, who crossed the Mediterranean in a heroic attempt to liberate her kidnapped sisters from Greek pirates, only to become embroiled in the most famous conflict of the ancient worldthe Trojan War. Taking their cue from the inscription, Diana and Nick set out to find the fabled treasure that Myrina and her Amazon sisters salvaged from the embattled city of Troy so long ago. Diana doesnt know the nature of the treasure, but she does know that someone is shadowing her, and that Nick has a sinister agenda of his own. With danger lurking at every turn, and unsure of whom to trust, Diana finds herself on a daring and dangerous quest for truth that will forever change her world. Sweeping from England to North Africa to Greece and the ruins of ancient Troy, and navigating between present and past, The Lost Sisterhood is a breathtaking, passionate adventure of two women on parallel journeys, separated by time, who must fight to keep the lives and legacy of the Amazons from being lost forever.Praise for The Lost Sisterhood Impossible to put down . . . This was my last book of 2023 and my last book for #booked2022! A rollicking story about the Amazons filled with history (well researched), travel, intrigue and of course, strong, intelligent women! I bought this book years ago because I could not resist a heroine named Diana. A fast paced, fun read. Thanks to the challenge,it is now checked off my #TBR list! #nonpatriarchalsociety #ReadingAfrica2022

rockpools Have you read Ian McEwan before? I was going to give one of his books a go this month, but suspect he‘s a not-right-now author. 5y
BethM I‘ve not read the tagged book, but that author wrote a book called Juliet which was excellent. 5y

Took a bit for this one to pick up, but once it finally did I couldn‘t put it down. I loved the dual plot lines and followed each other millennia apart. I‘m already looking for more reads about the Amazons.

Finally finished this one up. Such a fun and interesting read about the origins of the ancient tribe of the Amazon Women and the part the Trojans and Greeks played in their becoming. The story alternates nicely between past and present and traverses multiple continents. If you are looking for adventure with some mythology mixed in, this is the book for you! 🤺⛰🌎🌋🛫⌛

Just finished, I throughly enjoyed this one. I've never read a book about the Amazons before so I really enjoyed Fortier's take on their history; how they came to fall in with the Trojans, fight with the Greeks, & find their own way as a culture of women. Interwoven with their history is the story of Diana searching for herself and her grandmother's legacy and finding adventure along the way. One of my #fivestarpredictions 🌟this was dead on!

Melissa_J I loved this one, too! I met Anne Fortier shortly after the novel was released at a signing and speaking engagement. She talked about her inspirations for writing the book. She‘s lovely. 7y
BethM I loved Juliet- I'm super excited so wrote something in the same vein! 7y
MeganAnn @BethM Juliet is one of my favorites as well! In fact, that's the only reason this one has caught my eye at the bookstore. I think you'll definitely love this one also 😉 7y
MeganAnn @Melissa_J how wonderful! I think she would be a delightful author to meet and listen to! 7y

Great book ✔️ cozy blanket ✔️ no interruptions ✔️
I'm having my own mini readathon this weekend with my husband and son gone hunting with the menfolk.
This book about the amazons has me completely enthralled!

This was a fun historical mystery!! I was constantly changing my mind about who was "the bad guy" and loved the glimpse into Greek/Trojan history.

Diana Morgan is too annoying. I keep wanting to give up on the book but the amazon mystery keeps calling to me to pick it back up. Diana, for all her smarts and education, seems almost dumb - definitely naive, irresponsible, and inconsiderate (unrealistically so). To an extent she reminds me of younger me (ew). Blurbing this in case I never finish to rate it.

MrBook Another nice review ☺️👏🏻. And welcome to @Litsy ! We hope you enjoy your stay, I think you'll like it here 😎👍🏻. 8y
