I was lukewarm on the 1st one, but so glad I continued on to this one. Truthfully they add probably too many characters, but the action does NOT STOP. And sets the 3rd book up very well.

Enne, Levi & Jack make new alliances to get out from under the thumb of The Donna. Vianca‘s scheming puts the main cast at odds. It expanded more on the politics, and the magic, which was was well represented in the 1st book but got more in depth as to “talents”

The part in the story where the FMC and MMC have unnecessary conflict because someone lies about their feelings instead of just saying “I don‘t think we should get involved until we get out from under the thumb of the crime boss who would use our relationship to manipulate us” 🤪

This was slow at first, but the pace really hit the ground running about 50 pages in. Page turner! Don‘t want to say much plot wise since it‘s a sequel, but my goodness! It was SO atmospheric, the magic system was excellent, the romance was fun, and the intrigue... the intrigue. This book did NOT suffer from second book syndrome at all. So excited that I already put Queen of Volts on hold at the library; yay for me that it‘s already published

holy CRAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP the ending. There's so much murder in this. Enne is just straight up killing someone every scene it seems. Everyone be lying or telling half-truths for the full book. It's a social and political hot mess from start to finish but the ending just leveled up that mess. I need Queen of Volts NOW SO DON'T YOU DARE DELAY THAT SHIT BECAUSE OF BITCH AUNT COVID!

It's appalling that I took this long to get to the book. Ace of Shades was AMAZING

#90 of my year 🥳🥳🥳 last year I was able to read 78 books so I‘m happy I made it this year. I can‘t wait to see how many I will read by the end 🥰 this is book 2 and I‘m so looking forward to finding out what Levi and Enne will get up to now.

A stunning sequel. A bit too long and I hope the third isn't longer. Unique, explosive world with complex and daring characters.

If you ask me again in 5 minutes, I guarantee you some of these books will be different. 😂😂 I had a hard time picking my #Top6Reads I actually read a lot of pretty good books so far this year! I've obviously focused a lot on fantasy on the first half but I've got a bunch of non-fiction and thrillers coming up so my end of year should be interesting.

Book mail!! I can‘t wait to get into King of Fools during @JourneyAThon 😁😁 And my hardcover for Aurora Rising has finally came! I do have the paperback, which I‘m currently reading. But I wanted the Hardcover too. I probably would of originally just ordered the Hardcover but the Paperback is signed. So I had to get both!! 😍

When I read Ace of Shades, I liked it, but didn‘t love it and I did not know if I wanted to continue with the series. But, man I am so glad that I stuck with this series.
King of Fools starts right off just a few weeks after the events of Ace of Shades and spans over several months. There is blood spilled, drama, politics, betrayal, guilt, love, and heartache sprinkled deliciously throughout this book. #netgalley #bookstagram

Incredible! An emotional rollercoaster...

I adored the girl power in this! Lola, Enne and Grace FTW.

I got frustrated with Levi in this because of his selfishness and ambition, but the character growth in this is insane.

And can I say... Grace is so damn cool.

I did get a little confused with everyone‘s motives and assignments but I think it‘s because I listened to this on audible and I really shouldn‘t for complex, political stories :‘)

Oh my gosh! This book is making me want to cry in frustration because the next one isn't out. I loved the atmosphere, the politics, the kick ass girl gang. It was fabulous!!! Anyone who loves intrigue and a kick ass gang of girls needs to read this book and Ace of Shades pronto.

I cannot begin to express how much I love this main character!
First, she kills a man with her shoe and puts it back on, applies her lipstick and goes to gamble.
Next, she wears pearls when she's killing or making deals.
It is such a relief to find a character that takes pride in the ruffles, pearls, and lace.

*In a book coma this weekend after finishing King of Fools*

Have you ever read a book that reminded you of another book...in a good way? Ace of Shades did a little, but it really sunk in with King of Fools how it reminds me of Six of Crows. The characters, the heists, the style of magic, Levi reminds me of Kaz and Enne reminds me of Inej. These were all good reminders of another book I love, but this series is fully its own. I liked the first book but I love the second and am looking forward to the next.

I'm reading this way too slowly (Netgalley granted me a copy at the end of March), but it's just so twisty and good...

I planned on finishing this book last night but I got caught up in the Santa Clarita Diet and lost track of time 🤷‍♀️ So....I put together an easy supper, told everyone to leave me alone and I'm hibernating on my couch for the night and digging in! Goodreads has it as 384 pages and my pdf from Netgalley says it's 602... where do the extra pages go? 🤔
