But as part of this amazing series, Jodi Taylor releases short stories on Christmas often about Christmas, many of the books highlighted in green. The Chronicles of St. Mary‘s may be the coziest series I read. It‘s also the only good reason I still have Audible. Narrated by Zara Ramm, it‘s about a group of eccentric historians who visit contentious events in the past to discover the truth of them. This 5th installment covers A LOT of ground (from Renaissance Florence to the Battle of Thermopylae) & includes some hugely important, life-changing personal events for the characters, as well.

I have a problem I keep binging this series and everything is starting to blur into one long adventure. I just can't help myself though because I like seeing what these crazy characters are up to next.

Investigating historical events in contemporary time is what St. Mary's is all about. Yes, you could call it time travel but they're a little tetchy about that phrase. This time the crew gets involved with 17th Century English ghosts, almost perishs in the Great Fire of London, & does their level best not to mess up the stand off between the Spartans & the Persians at the Battle of Thermopylae. Just another day in the life of Max & her colleagues.

Another enjoyable set of misadventures from the folks at St. Marys. I have discovered an issue with this series though. It's not a bad thing, but somethings I feel these work better as short stories than full novels. The first 2 chapters for this one could've been its own wee story.
Still loved though 😊

I love this series! I got sidetracked from it for awhile but now I'm back with the Gang of St Mary's who
"investigate major historical events in contemporary time. For God‘s sake – do not call it time travel." Joy of being late to the party is having plenty to binge on. ?

Another fun romp through history with Max and the St. Mary‘s gang! From Victorian England to the Great Fire of London to Ancient Greece—this series is always madcap and all over the place, and I love it.

Instructions for historians on how to comport themselves at the 1851 Crystal Palace Exhibition:

“Offer your arm to your partner. Steer her around obstacles & muddy ground, because, of course, she won‘t be able to do that for herself. Victorian society genuinely feels that never having to open a door in your life more than compensates for not having your own job, your own money, or any sort of control over your own life, so remember that.”

Look who felt strong enough to join me in the #11thHourReadathon? 😍 I should be reading to complete my challenges but the last few days have been overwhelming so I‘m just going to read whatever I want. Or I could just stare at my cat all night long. #catsoflitsy

The thing that draws me to this series is the lighting speed of the plot. Each book is not just one adventure but five. Once again, I just adore Zara Ramm's narration, it makes the story cone to life.
