Thought I‘ll start off my #AuthorAMonth reading with this lovely, celebratory poem which Gaiman initially wrote for his friend who was expecting a baby girl. It was written as a heartfelt wish for a girl, from childhood to growing into a beautiful, independent adult. Though a picture book, it‘ll resonate with any mother and daughter. ☝️ is the last two stanza of the poem.

I am so tired (and a little sunburned) after picking 10 lbs of blueberries today!

When Litsy started 2 1/2 years ago I was in the middle of maternity leave. Sleep deprived and feeling disconnected from the world, this wonderful app appeared and I was immediately addicted. There is such a wonderful community here and now, just after hitting my 20,000 Litfluence, I want to thank all of you for being here and for making this app a place for book lovers to connect. *Pictured is my daughter and one of my very first Litsy posts!

A veggie girl 😊

My daughter received this for Easter and we read it this morning three times. She just loved it. It's a beautiful prayer for a new born baby for a lovely life through to adulthood. Some of the words are a bit advanced for a 4 year old (says age range 4-8) but the illustrations are lovely and the sentiment is sweet.

I can't rave enough about Neil Gaiman's children's books. Especially the Chu series (for younger kids)

I'm trying to get through all of Neil Gaiman's books this year. I've read several over the years, but I want to be able to say I've read them all. So one of my choices for the #bingo challenge is this one for a #BookWithGirlInTheTitle . I'm also going to read the next Unbeatable Squirrel Girl.

Thanks @MKWoods! I just picked up a copy of this today based on your post. I cannot wait to read it to my granddaughters, who are as sweet as berries in summer.

This lullaby/prayer is one of my favorites to read to my girls. It's beautiful in it honesty. It's a prayer I find myself reciting often.
