This a great reference book for helping your kids develop healthy relationships with their siblings.
Encouraging your kids to work out the problem together instead of involving you.

Talk to your kids about things you love about them instead of saying you love them equally.

Never pigeonhole your kids by saying they are good or bad at something in front of other people.

Spend one-on-one time w/each kid & don't talk about the other kid.

AileenRR Those are great tips! 2y

Time for the bookish discussion question of the day 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻! Here it is: If you have any siblings, how many of them also like to read? It‘s tough getting all six of us together in one spot. There was four of us today. Love my siblings 🥰🥰🥰. I‘m a very lucky brother. Only one of them likes to read 🙄😆🙈. It‘s okay, we all have our faults 😉🙃. #BookTalk

Crinoline_Laphroaig One brother who doesn't read anything but the Bible and Church literature. This is one of the reasons why I love Litsy and also started a Bookstagram. I NEEDED more Book People in my life. 🤓 5y
moonmagicbabe Nice looking family! 5y
MidnightBookGirl I have 3 brothers, but only one reads, but we have very different tastes when it comes to books! Thankfully, I have a niece who has similar tastes and dozens of book club/bookstore friends who read as much and as widely as I do! 5y

vivastory My brother doesn't really read, but several of my relatives do. Today my cousin's so was talking about her thoughts on King's Long Walk, a book I keep meaning to check out. 5y
Scochrane26 I have one sister, who likes to read. She frustrates me though because she mostly reads romance & never uses our library, even though she has a degree to be a school librarian. 🤦‍♀️ (edited) 5y
Maggie_Reads I have a brother. He‘d rather watch sports than crack a book open. Oh well. He‘s got other redeeming qualities. 5y
Amiable I also have 5 siblings. Of the 6 of us, only 3 enjoy reading. Three of my brothers, however, actually brag that they haven‘t read a book since high school. And they‘re in their late 40s. 😳 I really don‘t know where they came from. 5y
kspenmoll I am lucky- my parents, all of my 7 sibs, Aunts, cousins are readers. Plenty of books to go around. 5y
Daisey My sister enjoys reading, but she does not make it a priority or read nearly as much as I do. 5y
Deblovestoread Two brothers, both readers. I exchange books with one of them regularly and love when I give him something he ends up loving. Grateful I come from a family of readers. 5y
Prairiegirl_reading I have one sister who has never been a reader. She used to come to me and say I have to write a book report tell me about the last book you read. She did recently start listening to audio books so I feel like that‘s a small victory. 5y
AprilMae There are 4 of us. My oldest sister was a reader, we often talked books. My brother has read books here or there that his wife tells him he'd like (her and my niece are the readers), and my other sister reads occasionally, but I seem to be the book worm of the family 5y
TheBookHippie My much younger brother and I love to read, both of us love nonfiction. My sissy resides in heaven. 5y
CatLass007 I have one brother who is five years younger. He used to be a big reader, but ever since he got married and had kids he doesn‘t seem to do that much anymore. His wife hates to read. How can you hate to read? 5y
KathyWheeler I‘m really the only one who reads a lot even though there are 8 of us. Oddly, after all this time, the sister who is 1 year younger than me has begun reading more lately, and now we talk about books. I love it.😊 5y
Patchshank One of my sisters likes read. My other sister not so much. Both of my brothers like to read, but are not avid readers. Overall, there are more readers in my family than not. But we all read different things so we don't usually discuss books all that much for some reason. 5y
rwmg I am the eldest of 4 siblings. One brother is not a reader. My sister is also a great reader and we have overlapping tastes. My little brother was a reader till he and his wife had children and it was one of the things that fell by the wayside. 5y
SaturnDoo I have 5 older step brothers and only one of them likes to read. I haven't spoken to him in years so I don't know how much he reads. I have one real older brother and he reads sometimes. Not an avid reader like me. My mom has always liked to read but not as much as me. Her eyesight prohibits her from reading now. 5y
Jennifer3 One brother and he does not like reading. 🤷‍♀️ 5y
julesG @Jennifer3 Same here. One brother, he used to read a lot as a kid but doesn't anymore now. He reads to his son, my nephew, though. Which is very good because I tend to send books for Christmas and his birthday. 😁 5y
kezzlou85 One younger brother and he loves to read but works as a radiographer so doesn't have a lot of time. 5y
Cailey_Mac One older brother, and he‘s more of a gamer although recently he‘s been into more audio books👏🏼 5y
Sisasuku One older brother, he used to read in his childhood, but is a gamer now. Though he still reads every now and then. 5y
TheAromaofBooks Oh, I come from a family of readers, although three siblings are way more into nonfiction, while the other three of us are more into fiction. Our parents and even grandparents are also readers, so there is a lot of bookish talk at our family gatherings!! Great question - being a sibling is a special thing. 5y
BookNAround One younger sister who texted me yesterday to tell me that her family (3 readers, 1 struggler who is dyslexic, and 1 complete non-reader) spent a lot of $ at the bookstore yesterday. I think they went and stayed long enough to do that to escape family. 😂 I congratulated her though since they usually restrict the kids to one book each (generally add to my pile for her kids as a result, because one book is just not enough.) (edited) 5y
Jennifer3 @julesG My brother has never liked to read and that is so weird as my dad reads some and my mom is like me she reads a ton! My bro doesn‘t have kids to read to. 5y
Bookzombie I have an older brother and sister. As far as I know, my brother still reads. We aren‘t very close. My sister reads quite a bit as she makes sure to read every night before bed. Usually when I direct her toward a series she finishes it before I do. She likes to read them back to back. 5y

Sound advice to help foster positive relationships between siblings. I wish I could have read this sooner since my children are in the teenage years. Most of the examples given in the book involved young children but i believe I can incorporate some of the tools in my parenting.
