I am late to the John Green fan club. I found his podcast “The Anthropocene Reviewed” early in 2019 and was hooked. I will sit in my car and cry because some of his episodes are that beautiful. So it felt like it was time to tackle a YA romance where the protagonists are teens dying of cancer. I had to prepare myself that I would cry through this book. And I did. And it was so worth it.

Still working out how I felt about this one. I wanted a good cry, and it definitely delivered, so there's that.

A recent book haul from the library. $1 each. I can't believe I didn't own Robinson Crusoe! Well now I do!

And I'm super excited about The Fault in our Stars, Bel Canto (which I've seen lots about on Litsy), and the 2 books by Mitch Albom which were part of book club sets so I'm guessing they are good reads.

britt_brooke Nice haul! 2mo
Curiouser_and_curiouser Thanks @britt_brooke, I like not having to worry about returning books on time to the library and possibly getting fines so I'd much prefer to pay that dollar for peace of mind. And for the opportunity to be able to lend them out to friends after I'm done :) 2mo

I‘m currently only on page 46, but this book is a very good page turner. I can barely put it down! It has so far been very emotional, being a girl who hasn‘t even entered adult-hood and having cancer! So fat she has met a wonderful guy, he is the friend of a guy named issac who is going to be blind in a couple weeks. This is definitely a good book for anyone who loves emotional, romance, and drama in books.

“The Fault in Our Stars” was written by John Green in 2012. This book is BEYOND amazing. It provides a hopeless romantic love story between two teens who‘re experiencing the effects of cancer. This book is a perfect example of contemporary fiction.

An #UnpopularOpinion, but this was a book for the #ThoughtYouWouldLikeButDidnt category. I read it 7 years ago, and I can barely remember the story, but my Goodreads review says “Mawkish and sentimental. Pretentious lead characters, under-developed support cast.”

Lucy_Anywhere I've never read any of John Green for this reason, although I love his Crash Course videos on Youtube! 2mo
OriginalCyn620 Aww, I loved this one! I can see your point, though. 2mo
Scochrane26 I love John Green. This one seems to be most people‘s favorite, but I‘ve had several teens who liked Paper Towns best. And I like a couple of his others better. But, some of his early characters are similar, so you prob wouldn‘t like any. Turtles all the Way Down is different than his others. 2mo
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I dint care for any of his books!!! 2mo

When Hazel meets Augustus at the cancer kids support group, something changes; no one‘s story is written in stone. Their love is key in their story—can they rescue each other?

britt_brooke @Saraboo The film is okay, but the book is better. I wasn‘t a fan of the casting. 3mo
Saraboo @britt_brooke ok I'm gonna have to read the book then cause I seen the movie and loved it but if the book is better then I'm gonna have to read it. 3mo

This is one of my favourite books. It is for sure such an emotional read. It‘s about a girl named Hazel who has been diagnosed with lung cancer. Her parents make her attend a support group. Hazel was not to happy about going but then realized it was a good idea to be there. She met a boy named Augustus and falls in love. It is for sure a roller coaster of emotions while reading this. Love, sadness and romance.

kcaffyn5 I think what the author is trying to put out there is to never take anything for granted, you never know what may come your way. It‘s always important to tell those important people in your life, how much you love them bcuz you won‘t always have tomorrow. (edited) 3mo

This book is an emotional story about friendship and love between two teenagers. Hazel Grace, a cancer patient, who struggles with getting out the house and making friends meets 16- year old Gus who changes her for the better. Hazel Grace is finally able to feel less alone. I recommend this book to anyone who like sad touching stories like “Everything Everything“.

An emotional and teary read, but also a quick read.
It had some excellent quotable parts, and I liked the wit and banter between the two teenagers.

I gotta tell you that this is a very emotional book. All it has is emotions. A teenager would love it. I being a thriller lover couldn't enjoy this book wholeheartedly. But, I don't degrade this one. If you like love stories, emotions etc. this is a right pick for you. It's a small book so definitely give a try.

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green is a RF tear-jerker that won the #1 New York Times Bestseller. The story is about a young girl named Hazel that has a terminal brain tumor. She soon meets a man named Augustus, her world flips upside down. I would use this as an IR or PR, depending on the student. #UCFLAE3414SU19

Kendylleonard https://www.varsitytutors.com/englishteacher/fault-in-our-stars-lesson-plans The resource I found has many ideas you could use. Some include the author reading part of the book, vocabulary flash cards, and even discussion questions. This resource encompasses UDL 5.2 and ESOL strategy 29. (edited) 6mo
