The Coffin Dancer
The Coffin Dancer: A Novel | Jeffery Deaver
25 posts | 48 read | 2 reading | 9 to read
Detective Lincoln Rhyme, the foremost criminalist in the NYPD, is on the hunt for an elusive murderer, the Coffin Dancer. He's a brilliant hitman who changes his appearance even faster than he adds to his trail of victims, only one of whom has lived long enough to offer a clue: the assassin has an eerie tattoo on his arm of the Grim Reaper waltzing with a woman in front of a casket. Like his previous bestselling novels A Maiden's Grave and The Bone Collector, Jeffery Deaver's latest psychological thriller combines spine-chilling forensic detail with a turbocharged plot. In The Coffin Dancer, Rhyme, tragically paralyzed from a line-of-duty accident, continues to tutor his beautiful protg, Detective Amelia Sachs, in the art of criminal hunting. Rhyme is certain he's seen this killer before, and his suspicion of an earlier encounter fuels a bitter taste for vengeance. When the chameleonlike assassin targets three federal witnesses for death, the stakes reach a new high. Rhyme's brainpower and Sachs's legwork are the only tools they have to track the cunning murderer through the subways, parks, and airports of a darkly painted New York City. And they have only forty-eight hours before the Coffin Dancer strikes again. With The Coffin Dancer, Deaver -- already an internationally bestselling author whose acclaimed novels have been translated into a dozen languages -- uses his trademark plot twists to keep this fast-paced, masterly thriller steamrolling along with breathtaking speed. This is page-turning suspense of the highest order.

I am enjoying reading these again. Although some parts, as with most older books, do not age well.

This was my first time reading a Lincoln Rhymes book, my only knowledge of the character had been from the bone collector tv show a few years ago. I picked this book up for $1 and I'm glad I did. It was really well written and I enjoyed the twists especially near the end. Would certainly recommend it.

I really like the Lincoln Rhyme books. I'm currently listening to Cold Moon, book 7. This one is book 2 in the series.

I don't buy books, unless they are free on bookbub. I put them on hold as soon as one comes out. I pretty much love all his books.

August was a slow reading month for me...
But I did get another Deaver in...

So this one will be my book for day 8. Not as engaging as the first, but still another good twist or 2 I did not see coming.

August #WrapUp

My reading is definitely hampered by my work load.
Some evenings when I get home I'm so tired that I don't even feel like reading.

But my favourite foe this month was Deaver with Coffin Dancer, looking forward to read the entire series.

It captures the readers attention and keeps hold of it throughout the whole novel. As soon as you think you know what is going to happen the story takes a twists and carries you on the adventure keeping you guessing and thinking about what is going to happen next.In this novel we see more of the team that work with Lincoln and the characters are all very well described and connects the reader even more to the story

#LitsyClassics #MayLovesClassics #day23 #Disabled Playing catch up yet again, this flu is still kicking my arse.🤧 In this classic Deaver novel, Lincoln Rhyme, a leading criminalist with the NYPD is on the trail of a hitman who‘s been hired to take out 3 witnesses in a major trial. Lincoln is a quadriplegic after a large beam fell on him whilst working at a crime scene but it hasn‘t stopped him being the best profiler on the force.

Jennick2004 Ooh that cover! Subtle but satisfying! 7y
Lizpixie @Jennick2004 in the 90s I was briefly a “book club” subscriber where they sent you two books a month of their choice from your preferred genre. I ended up with 7 Deaver books in this series, all different colours with one chosen feature embossed. There‘s even a hot pink one! 7y
Jennick2004 Love! Pink is my jam hehe 🌸 I‘ll have to check the series out! 7y

Lincoln Rhyme is one of my favorite characters in the mystery/thriller genre. High energy outing, fun, quick read.

Lwsmith I've wanted to read the LR books. Is order important? 8y
Shemac77 I'm not sure. I'm only on book two and think that chronology might be important just from where the different relationships are going. @Lwsmith 8y
Dragon Agreed 👍❤️ 8y
Dragon @Shemac77 I think you'll enjoy them more in chronological order 😀 8y
