Finally got around to my #AprilStats Not a great reading month for me,
9 books total
2 audiobooks
1 non fiction
2 graphic novels
3 SciFi
1 lit fiction

Hopefully May is better, I always read more if I #moodread rather than try to read books on a schedule(for challenges etc). What kind of a reader are you? A Planner, a Magpie(reading the newest shiny book)or a Free Spirit?

TrishB Definitely mood reader, if I know I have to read a book I instantly dislike it! 6y
Aswenson Free spirit. I look at my TBR shelves and pluck one out that seems right! (I run a middle school and high school book club though, and have to read books for those each month. Not always my favorite.) (edited) 6y
Lindy @TrishB Me too. Sometimes I really have to psych myself up for book club titles that don‘t appeal to me. 6y
StillLookingForCarmenSanDiego Nice job! 📖💖 6y
TrishB @Lindy exactly! 6y

I am passionate about reading to children. I read to my own children all the time. I am becoming a librarian because I feel so strongly about it. But this book simplifies things. Reading aloud will not make your child a genius. It won‘t solve all of their learning difficulties. It won‘t even guarantee that they will become readers in their own lives later on. This implies that it will do all of those things. Continued in comments.

Krisjericho It is also discouraging for parents who did not start immediately reading multiple books per day to their child as soon as it was born. If you already do this and want a pat on the back, read this book. If you want to know that it is never too late and every bit helps, come talk to me. 6y
LazyDays Nice review! It makes me think, I feel like we judge ourselves to much both positive and negative. Being there for you kids and simply listening will do wonders. With these parenting books, magazines, blogs I feel like they make everything extreme- just to motivate people to be there for their childern. 6y

I have a new a post up today on Book Riot. This one is for my kids, with whom I have been reading for over 20 years. It is really just a love letter to them, so it seems appropriate that it is published today, on my youngest child's 19th birthday.

And to all my parent friends still reading to your little ones, you have so much joy ahead!

HippieChickHomeschool Oh wow! I read this on Facebook earlier and really enjoyed it. How cool to know a fellow litten wrote it! ❤️ 7y
Amanda.T Great post! As a mom to a toddler, I‘m looking forward a bookish future where I no longer can recite her favorite books from memory. 😂 7y
HeatherBookNerd @Amanda.T Those toddler years can be trying. How many times can a person be expected to read Goodnight Moon?! I assure you, a more varied assortment of books is coming someday! 7y
TNbookworm Great post! I loved reading to my daughter, best thing ever! 7y
MeganAnn Wonderful article! I'm already seeing some of what you mentioned with my 9 year old (choosing books I wouldn't have chosen, wanting me to read his favorites, and talking about them!) 🤓❤️ I can't wait to see how our reading relationship grows as he does. 7y
HeatherBookNerd @TNbookworm @MeganAnn watching your kids turn into readers is the BEST. 7y
