Charming book! Really transports you into a world of gambling, drinking and a whole other life that exists late into the night. Sad and touching at times. Very well written!

The English adaptation of Stéphane Larue's novel Le plongeur tells the story of a failed graphic design student with a gambling addiction who winds up working as a dishwasher in a high end Montreal restaurant. The level of detail and authenticity about life in the kitchen and in front of the VLTs could only be written by someone who has lived it. Larue's cast of broken characters kept me reading through every soul-sucking page.
I spent more time writing than reading today but thus far, I'm hooked! I'll give a review when I've finished it.
I just learned about Litsy this morning and signed up! I'm about to start reading this memoir by Canadian author Stéphane Larue. Looks like it will be a good read. I also realized it coordinates well with my comforter. Now I need to figure out how Litsy works so I can start following people!
This book made dishwashing enthralling. I‘m serious. It‘s also about Montreal, gambling, music, work. It‘s so good.
