Yesterday I had to go to the mall to pick up an online order after work. I snuck in an op shop visit too. Total $23 as I had filled up my discount card. It was out of date but no one seems to care about that anymore! I have a🧜‍♀️ themed 1st b‘day party coming up so the t-shirt may be used for that. The polka dot 👗 was only $1. I had no idea the tagged 📕 has been made into a series until I saw the tie in cover! I love the 🖼️ but not the frame.

TieDyeDude Nice haul! 6mo

I'm reading this in my 11th grade English class today for first chapter Friday. #DailyPhotoChallenge #WinterGames #CandyCaneCrushers

Reggie My 12 grade English teacher. Every Friday all he asked was that we just read a book. And if we didn‘t have one we got a zero. Which was impossible because he had a bookshelf you could borrow from. 13mo
DebbieGrillo @Reggie I love that! 13mo

The #AnyWayYouReadathon was interrupted by 27 hours of power outage for me this weekend. So I didn't get as much reading done as I would have liked and my time count was off. I'd say I read about 11 hours when I was hoping for 15. But my power is back on! Yay!

Thanks everyone for participating!

Holy smokes!! If you like a fem-forward dystopian, this book is for you. Very exciting page turner! Without spoiling anything, this book is a chilling look at what power does to people, how it corrupts people. Cool take on women ruling the world!

Reallllly late to the game on this one... I think I bought it 2 or 3 years ago? Anyway, a very powerful book/no pun intended. It really made you think of how different the world could be in a matriarchal society. Definitely a pick for me.

I almost bailed on this audiobook. But I am glad I stayed with it. I think the old #botm bookmarks sums this book up perfectly. I am using this book for the #bbrc prompt grown up: seeing red. The cover is red but I also think the the women in this book were “seeing red” before the inflicted their pain on the men of this book!

“Well, well, well, how the turntables...”- Michael Scott, The Office

It‘s an intriguing concept. Women suddenly become incredibly powerful and men can do nothing about it. I think we, as women, have all thought about it before. What we would do if we had the power, the control. Does absolute power corrupt absolutely?

If everyone, particularly men, could read this book, that would be great. It isn't that I wasn't aware of the patriarchy -- I'm a woman -- I can't really ignore it. Flipping the script as Alderman does brings it so much more into focus though. Can't recommend this enough. I had to wait ages to get it from my library, but it was worth it.

This book had an excellent premise but I feel the author lost track of the agenda mid way and this book ended up feeling really confused and a bit pointless. I loved the concept and I would have really liked for her to explore it better. I‘d pass a re-read.

I‘m posting one book a day from my extensive TBR pile. No description. No explanation. Some will be new. Some will be old. They all spoke to me at one time. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join in on the fun if you want to

Stunning, twisty weave that brings together the threads of power and asks you to take a hard look at the tapestry of history to imagine the future.

In this dystopia (?), teenage girls develop powers that they can pass along to other women. The book follows several viewpoints, including a powerful girl whose father is a London crime lord, a girl in the US who becomes a religious cult leader, and a Nigerian reporter covering the chaos as women begin to revolt around the world. What would happen if the world were run by women? This is one slightly fantastical possibility.

Unexpectedly good. Although highly recommended, I‘ve often found these recommendations to be a little overblown. This, however, was amazing. Not too long, not too short, a quick, strong and intelligent read that has some excellent characters and fascinating details that create the depth needed in a complex story like this.

veritysalter I loved this one and immediately gave it to my daughter to read. 5y

Meh.. i will say it was creative..but i just didnt care. Im not a big dystopian sci fi whatever this was reader. Maybe it's just not the right book for me right now. Women wake up an electrical power inside themselves that they can use to cause pain or death. Multiple storylines / viewpoints were cool but i really only liked one of them.. i say 3 💥💥💥 for creativity

A world where women gain power through special abilities...this book chronicles the triumphs and struggles as various characters navigate a slowly changing world. But, the book goes beyond the story - it‘s very introspective of culture and society and who is right and who is wrong. And, what is good and what is bad, and perhaps what happens when good becomes bad?

This is definitely not my usual genre, but I was captivated. It kept my interest!

another book i waited to long to “read“, better late than never.
i listened to the audiobook during week 1 of quarantine 2020 and it made things bearable with it's unique premise and unique characters. it helped that it is well written story with a strong narrator.
