South of the Buttonwood Tree
South of the Buttonwood Tree | Heather Webber
20 posts | 15 read | 21 to read
Blue Bishop has a knack for finding lost things. While growing up in charming small-town Buttonwood, Alabama, shes happened across lost wallets, jewelry, pets, her wandering neighbor, and sometimes, trouble. No one is more surprised than Blue, however, when she comes across an abandoned newborn baby in the woods, just south of a very special buttonwood tree. Sarah Grace Landreneau Fulton is at a crossroads. She has always tried so hard to do the right thing, but her own mother would disown her if she ever learned half of Sarah Graces secrets. The unexpected discovery of the newborn baby girl will alter Blues and Sarah Graces lives forever. Both women must fight for what they truly want in life and for who they love. In doing so, they uncover long-held secrets that reveal exactly who they really areand what theyre willing to sacrifice in the name of family.

Finished my last #LMPBC book for this round, and I‘m happy to say 3 groups wasn‘t even hard.😂

This is a very sweet, whimsical escape into magical realism, and it was a book I needed right now. Loved all of the characters, the sweet romances, and the complicated family stories. The mysterious pieces got a little bit convoluted, but I was happy to suspend disbelief for that HEA. ❤️

⭐️⭐️⭐️1/2

It will be on the way home to you soon, Lindsey!

BookBosomed1 Yea! I didn‘t finish it before I sent it on its way, so I look forward to reading it with everyone‘s commentary. I admire you for doing 3 LMPBC. I did 2 and *struggled.* 2y

I enjoyed reading this sweet story. The characters were colorful and charming and I enjoyed the story. While not the most complex plot line, it was just what I needed after reading some heavy literature. Respite after some dark literature is just what I needed! Thank you for sharing with me, @BookBosomed1 I really am glad that I got to know Blue Bishop and her eclectic family! 3.5/5 ⭐️

This is the third book by Heather Webber I have read. I have loved them all. The theme of family and love but especially, even if done with the best of intentions, sometimes secrets aren‘t good to keep.

I liked the story of family. And being brave. It‘s not like it‘s an exciting book but not all good books are exciting.

#BookReport - Finished 5 books this week. 3 audio and 2 print books. All were pretty great reads this week.

Currently reading Network Effect, about 100 pages in and Empire of Sand, about 200 pages in but I‘m struggling to pick it up.

#WeeklyForecast - hoping to finish both books in progress and pick up The Convenient Marriage and Namesake and listen to a few audiobooks.

Loved this book! I listened to it in one day! (It‘s a 10 hr audiobook)

I don‘t think I liked it as much as Blackbird Cafe but this one was pretty special.

Blue has always wanted a family and she‘s working on adopting. Sarah Grace has always done what‘s best for her family and not for herself. You got secrets being revealed, a bookshop and a small community prejudices and trying to overcome them.

This book was lovely and heartwarming.

I liked Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe, but so far, I‘m liking this one better. I really like the characters. I hate family feuds, but I can get past that, and it was an issue in the earlier book as well. #audiowalk

I absolutely adored this book!! Full of southern charm, magic, small town drama and family secrets. Great October read, not spooky just cozy. A very feel good book. 💜💜💜

Webber's writing & characters are magically reminiscent of Sarah Addison Allen & have a wonderful warmth to them. I adore the way she crafts her characters & gives the town such a wonderful set of diverse personalities & Southern charm. The read itself is smoothly paced, with good side plots & a charming feel. Some pieces are undeniably convenient, but I loved the writing enough that this didn't matter. A good, light-hearted, pick-me-up read.
