On my 5th book of the month. This is the most I have ever read in a month. GO ME!!!!! Haha

The synopsis made this sound so good but it didn‘t deliver. The FMC was annoying and kind of a brat. The book focused more on her family issues than the romance. I wanted more witty banter and a true enemies to lovers story. Instead I got family drama with a side of instalove. ⭐️⭐️😕

Employees of rival bookstores fall for each other but the chain is helping to put the indie out of business.
Wasn‘t crazy about Madeline or Jasper. Their pranks on each other and their respective stores weren‘t charming or funny. Families and supporting characters didn‘t add much depth either. This one tried too hard to be charming and cute and missed the mark.

Last Chance Books is about a girl named Madeline Moore who dreams of running her familie's bookstore after college. However, that dream is cut short when their rent increases due to the “competition“ across the street.

In all honesty, this book really didn't do much for me. The beginning felt slow, the middle picked up a bit and then the ending was amazing- but it took a lot of trudging to get there. It was okay, but thats all it was. 3/5 Stars.

This book has a super low goodreads rating and I can't understand it! I just finished it and thought it was adorable, sweet, and super cute! Plus it's about a bookstore! 😁💕📚 It was like a YA version of the film You've Got Mail, honestly!

What more could you ask out of a romance novel, other than romance? Well, Last Chance Books by Kelsey Rodkey has romance and so much more!

✔ Promoting growth through body positivity
✔ Emphasizing the importance of consent
On its surface, Last Chance Books is an adorable enemies-to-lovers, but it is also so much more than that, which truly makes it stand out from other romance novels.

First book started for #AnyWayYouReadathon, and despite it being the book I chose for our YA for Adults book club at the bookstore, I can‘t say I‘m loving it. But, I will say that book club discussions are usually more lively when the book isn‘t well loved. @kimmypete1 @Eggbeater

It was ok, had a few issues.

New Adult (?) romance. Enemies-to-lovers.

Cute, but a bit too much angsty inner monologue for me. Which is totally age appropriate for the 17/18 y/o main character.

Please take my scathing review with a grain of salt because I read this for a book club and romance is not usually my thing. The main character was a whiney, unsympathetic brat. This is a book about bookstores that doesn't reference any real books. The characters were one dimensional and there was no plot. So, so bored and I'm sure it's just me.

So this audio is between a pick and a so-so. The two main characters did annoy me with their antics to one up each other in destroying each other's bookstores. They call it a modern YA You've Got Mail. But I enjoyed how she went about setting up events to save an independent bookstore.

I just couldn‘t stand the main character. Nothing fancy about it. She was petty, self righteous. I actually like Benny, her brother.

This updated YA “You‘ve Got Mail” story is cute…but not cute enough to quiet all of my complaints & earn it a *fully* favorable review. The book-lover details felt a bit pandering to me (yes, we all prefer original cover art to movie tie-in editions)…but maybe if I were a teen who‘d had fewer years to find a like-minded community, these same details would‘ve just made me feel seen.

Madeleine and Jasper work at competing bookstores and are enemies, except for when they are passionately trying to avoid becoming something much more friendly. Received this as an ARC from Edelweiss. There is a lot of romantic and familial tension but this book shines brightest on Madeleine‘s competency as a manager of bookstore events. I would highly recommend checking it out when it becomes available in May!!!

It is exactly as billed—a YA ‘You‘ve Got Mail.‘ It‘s a fun, quick read perfect for fans of the movie, books, bookstores, or romance. There is a secondary story that doesn‘t add much but it isn‘t annoying enough to not recommend the book. Perfect for a weekend afternoon, a trip (when such things are a thing again) or a day at the pool. On sale 5/18/21.

Next up, a debut billed as a YA ‘You‘ve Got Mail.‘ Love the cover and who doesn‘t love a little bookstore drama? Hoping for a fun story. 🤞
