Richard is a as quiet, middle aged Englishman, running a B&B in rural France. One day, a guest disappears and another guest (Valerie) encourages him to join in with her investigating the disappearance.
I couldn‘t relate to any of the characters even though some were quite quirky. The story line was very confusing and didn‘t answer all my questions. Unfortunately it didn‘t hold my interest and as a result took me a while to finish.

I‘ve been reading rom-com and YA recently so thought I‘d give cosy mystery a go….

I enjoyed this fun cozy. The uptight Englishman abroad brings to mind DI Richard Poole, the original, and best, DI in the TV series Death In Paradise. This has the same vibe, and it made me chuckle.

I was looking for something lighthearted after finishing Under the Banner of Heaven and this definitely fit that bill. It was okay but I spent most of it as confused as Richard about what was going on. I‘m still not entirely sure what happened….

I just finished reading this, and I'm not really sure how I feel about it, but it kept me interested until the end. 😂 There was a murder, a lot of characters, and plenty of chaos. I don't know that I'll read any more of the series, though.

My Memorial Day morning was perfect. I finished my book (tagged here - it was a fun mystery that made me laugh out loud at times), had some coffee, listened to the birds and breathed in the sunshine and warmth. I wish all weekends were 3 days 😊

Themes: French culture, “hard” cozy (Miss Marple vibes but with swingers), reluctant main character, dark humor

I was awake this morning at my weekday time, but I can‘t be mad when the sun is shining, the birds are chirping and there‘s a 3-day weekend ahead 😊 Starting my day with a good cup of coffee and a delightful book that is, “Like going on joyous romp through the Loire Valley with Agatha Christie, P. G. Wodehouse, and M. C. Beaton” (quote from C. K. McDonnell) 😁🙌

This was definitely your screwball dark comedy. Definitely not my usual thing but there were some lol moments. I struggled to keep track of characters at first and then gave up and enjoyed the flow. My advice to future readers, don‘t try too hard to understand what‘s going on, just enjoy the chaos and loss of control.

Mr. Moore wraps his characters in a madcap mystery with so many secrets, twists, and turns I totally lost count and just hung on tight and enjoyed the ride.

This was delightful, with definite Thursday Murder Club vibes. Richard is a middle aged Brit, running a B&B in the Loire, separated from his wife, and trying hard to blend into life‘s background. A Parisian divorcée Valarie, gives Richard‘s life the kick start it needs. They solve a village mystery, and we meet some pretty hilarious characters along the way. The sweary cleaning lady being a favorite! Funny and silly, and a lovely pallet cleanser.

I finished this last week, a book from my #AuldLangSpine list by @BookNAround - this was a cozy mystery, which is not my usual choice, but it was absolutely madcap and fun. If you‘re into the cozy mystery, add this to the TBR. I would not have read this on my own but it was fun to get out of my element and be entertained. @monalyisha

Death and Croissants is a cozy mystery with a creative premise. An attractive couple, each in a bit of a slump, with charming setting, quirky characters and clever bits of humor. What more could you want? Well, frankly I want a story that leads somewhere. Not something that wanders aimlessly with the sole point of introducing a lot of “quirky” characters. This wasn‘t a bad book, it just did nothing to engage me. #PoisonedPenPress #NetGalley

Moore has populated his giggle inducing mystery with tongue in cheek clichés and outlandish characters but he gets away with all of it. This is the perfect book to read when you want a lighthearted book to carry you along on a lively adventure. It‘s pure entertainment. 112/150 This would make the perfect palette cleanser for someone who just finished a heavy read. Its light, frothy, and usually down right silly. Richard is an Englishman in France running a B&B, where there may or may not have been a murder. Who's dead, or isn't, why they're dead, or not, makes for a dizzy and lighthearted romp. 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I came into town , intending to get groceries and head back to the island so I didn‘t bring my book. Then my mom called and said they were coming in for dinner so I should just stay there and wait for them. I like to cook but I also don‘t turn down a meal out. Luckily there was this cute looking book in the mail for me.

And enjoyable story about a bored, clueless Brit who gets pulled into a mystery by a French gal who‘s more than she seems. A fun cast of zany characters round out this madcap mystery that very much reminds me of British comedies.
