This should have been an easy read but it seemed endless to me. Up til about 30% absolutely nothing had happened & at 40% I guessed the twist of the book.

The plot is very subdued, not much to report in the way of action, which is fine sometimes but the moral of the story was obvious. It seemed kind of pretentious? It‘s a quick YA read, but it was no fun.

I have reached page 50 and it‘s still mostly background. Not much happening. Anybody read and enjoy this series? Is it worth it to keep reading?

Just finished watching the Worlds of Ursula K. Le Guin documentary by Arwen Curry. I had early access as a Kickstarter backer. It's amazing. No, I'm not crying! You're crying!

This YA series seems to have slipped under many people's Le Guin radar; its not as politically flashy as some of her work, but it's no less radical than the rest of her work. It is a great example of what I love in her work: storytelling-driven rather than plot driven, quiet and subtle, with a focus on mundane life, but peppered with glimpses of sparkling emotional depth under the "simple" veneer. She is...was...still is a master.

It‘s kind of hard to tell, but they all have purple on the spine and cover. Not much purple to choose from on my shelves. But as with all colors, at least one by Ursula K. LeGuin! 😁
