⭐️⭐️💫

This book had a cool juxtaposition of traditional and modern elements and I liked how it explored stories - how to preserve them, who can share them, and when to consider a reframe of our well-trodden personal narratives. However, it felt slow to me and I just couldn‘t really get into it. #reesesbookclub🎧

ICantImReading @Enchanted_Bibliophile agree, the cover is cool, especially since pencils feature in the story! 17h
EKonrad Totally agree! Wanted this to be so much better. 😩 16h

Grabbed the tagged book from the library and started it. I'm really enjoying it so far. The writing is beautiful and I love how alive the Fig Tree is. I truly believe plants and trees are more intelligent than humans give them credit for! Still in the beginnings of the story so not exactly sure where it's heading but it's a good start.

Honestly I got this book because of #CoverLove

But I found the story lacking. It reads like a YA, the characters feel childish and absolutely nothing happens for the biggest part of the book.

It took me a while to get into this book (I was working too much) and it didn‘t draw me in right away. Very wordy! Lots of big words that would piss my husband off lol. Then it turned into a Stephen King horror and I really enjoyed it.
The lovely bush behind the book is called “Karen Azalea,” so beautiful when it blooms.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

At first, this felt like an unapologetic Didion rip off, then it magically morphed into more of an homage. Incredible writing! Blew me away. I ended up loving this travelogue of memories. Yes, this is Tom Hanks‘s daughter. No, this book isn‘t about him. Also one of my favorite covers of 2025.

One of my more recent favorite series, each book delightful in its own way. I need more queer historical fantasy like this in my life ✨
