tpixie @Mommamanzi I don't know why this series spoke to me. it's not like any other Stephen King books. But I started reading them when they came out in 1982. I liked the multi-verse theme about it. I read them until he quit writing them -right around his led/car accident in 1999. Then when he started up writing the series again, I re-listened to all of them to catch up, and then finished the series. 7y

ValerieAndBooks I started this series way back when I was in college but then got too busy to continue. Younger son is interested but hasn't had the time to get past the 1st one. I found several illustrated versions in our used bookstore and need to find the rest. I think this might be a good summer reading project 😊 7y

Such a well-told lovely but heartbreaking story. I keep thinking that Roland of Gilead just might be Stephen King's best character ever...and that's saying something. I last read this book 19 years ago and was a little afraid of feeling it had lost it's magic. Nonsense. I think it's my favorite in the series now. I want to mull it over in my head for a while before continuing the journey with The wind through the keyhole. #darktowerdecember

Alas, my journey with the ka-tet is done.

What an incredible reread. This is my 3rd time reading the series and this has been an fantastic experience. This time I was overwhelmed while reading this series and fully consumed by it. King put together an incredible quest and amazing characters in a way that only he can. A sci-fi, fantasy, western of immense proportion. The story of a gunslinger trying to reach the tower.

Chessa Nice work!!! So, have you always read them back to back? Do you recommend that over spacing them out? I tend not to binge read series all at once, but I am interested in getting past book 1 of this! 7y

TheNextBook I read them all back to back the first time and I would recommend that. It's easy to get wrapped up in the story once you get past the first book. I say binge unless you absolutely have to take a break. There are parts that get really weird but there's a method to the madness. @Chessa 7y

I've got about 300 pages left in this final chapter of #darktowerdecember and it has been an emotional rollercoaster.

Josie I'm not gonna finish by months end :( I just had the hardest time getting into the last book! 7y

TheNextBook @Josie This book is defintely the strangest and the heaviest. The scope is broadened so much and includes the passages through so many different when and wheres and pulls all of his other stories in. I think thats why it took him so long to finish the series. He knew how big this can of worms was going to be. It's worth it to finish but take your time. 7y

Josie @TheNextBook I'm about 260 pages in and I can definitely tell that it's going to be a long and deep ride. I'll finish before February, though! I'm determined! 7y
