Cuilin I think this was my favorite chapter. it‘s so organized and they‘re all together. Great vibes. @mcctrish Really the book should be called Mina!!! 1mo
Cuilin @BarkingMadRead that quote gives me “not all men vibes”. lol 1mo

The #girlboss book ended up being my pick for the train! Ready for some juicy stuff.

Help! Which book should I start on the train back to NYC tonight?

Both are fiction. One is about a down on her luck girl who starts working for a toxic influencer and discovers the dark side of being a #girlboss, the other is magical realism about a pair of newlyweds whose husband slowly turns into a great white shark over the course of 9 months.

Cinfhen Both sound great- safe travels 💕 2y

Everyone should read this. The delivery is a little goofy, but it's totally sound as far as financial advice goes. It's how to save money and build wealth. Because being poor sucks. Sophia Amoruso mentions it several times in #Girlboss (which is awesome also). I know you love this cover. Lol.

The majority of this book is a searing response to books like Lean In and #Girlboss that espouse a view that feminism is achieved through ascending the corporate ladder. Beck looks at how non-white (or straight, cis) women are left behind in this narrow definition.

Historically, Beck looks at the successful collectivism of pre-WWII non-white feminists, and how their needs were ignored by first-wave feminism.

In modern times, she examines how ⬇️

Megabooks #metoo and feminism through buying (t-shirts, jewelry, sponsorships) leave behind poor and often non-white feminists and remove important voices from the narrative of feminism. #audiobook 4.75⭐️ #colorintitle #booked2021 @Cinfhen @BarbaraTheBibliophage @4thhouseontheleft (edited) 4y

valeriegeary Sounds interesting! I might have to read it for one of the #booked2021 prompts! 4y
Megabooks @valeriegeary it definitely works for Antiracist book as well. 4y
Cinfhen Nice review. It sounds a little more academic then most NF I like to read...was it dry or heavy on statistics?? 4y
mdemanatee Oohhh I already had this on my to-listen after I finish Mediocre and this only makes me more excited. Thanks for the thoughts! 4y
Megabooks @Cinfhen I wouldn‘t recommend this to you. I wouldn‘t call it dry and academic, but it‘s like reading a 300 page NYT article, and I just haven‘t seen you read much like that. 4y
Megabooks @mdemanatee if you liked mediocre, you‘ll definitely enjoy this one! 4y
Cinfhen Nope!! Not for me 😜 4y

E readers and audio books are not my typical go to, but I when I have to spend 4 hours in the car for work travel then I appreciate the time to myself. I have read this book in the past but feeling like I need the reminder that this Girl Boss really is a Badass! #badass #girlboss #coo #audiobook

I liked her approach of self-confidence and valuing of the hustle. Often, the nervy if being a go-getter gets no love. And she had interesting tips and tons of examples, but I guess I‘m not completely the right audience, as I tend toward more independent work situations than jobs...obviously, STILL FIGURING IT OUT! But this was an easy and encouraging read. It‘ll go on the bottom for a while til I want to brush up again.

Pretty excited because I just started my own business and I need some inspiration.
Hopefully it‘s as good as the show. So far it‘s weird lol

I went into this book not knowing a thing about the author or her company. For #readharder2019 #businessbook. I actually liked it more than I expected. I don‘t think any of her advice is life changing, nor do I agree with all of it but she does have an interesting and unique story. I liked that she featured other #girlboss women as well
