#Pemberlittens It's time for #JaneAdjacent Book Club. My answers:
1️⃣ Print Copy. I wanted a Northanger Abbey retelling for this month. November just seems the perfect time
for Northanger Abbey. Cover caught my eye. I just love it! Didn't realize the setting is November. Or that it was Time Travel.

2️⃣ I really liked Mr Austen in the past story.

3️⃣ Love a Book Fair!

⬇️

Crinoline_Laphroaig 4️⃣ ‘Oh, you like Jane Austen…..
Yes I believe many men do, though some people think she's an author just for girls, I suppose.

Unbelievable, Who on earth would think like that?‘

5️⃣ You had me at biscuits. ⬇️

Crinoline_Laphroaig 6️⃣ This is from my Goodreads Review of The Mysteries of Udolfo:
‘I was so happy to hear The End…..
Apparently there weren't Editors in 1794 when this was published. It rambles on and on and on. I could only take so much of the Histrionics. I would bail for a while. Finally I can get this 31 h 15 m 42 s mess off my phone.‘ ⬇️

Crinoline_Laphroaig 7️⃣ I found the notes about the Rice Portrait of Jane Austen interesting. I've seen the image countless times, but didn't realize that it may be Jane Austen herself. 4d

This was another fantastic story by Heather Marshall. I can't wait till her next one. The pain felt endless, I felt like i read this with shoulders hunched over. There was a thread that didn't seem looped, and it is driving me crazy.

How to begin this review. This was a perfect first novel. A debut to be so proud of. One that will take your breathe away. Make you shed tears and even give you a bit of hope in places. It also made me feel fear. Sadness. Some happiness. And possibly hope.

A marvelous debut - wonderful research, pull-you-in writing, and some tender moments despite what was going on.

A must read for historical fiction fans.

😮 #JaneAdjacent BookClub is down to 2 books! Never fear #PemberLittens I have a plan. Working out few things and then will let you know.

Searching for Mr Tilney by Jane Odiwe
Is November's Novel. (Yes that's a nod to Northanger Abbey.) I'm excited because I adore Henry Tilney.

Read at your own pace. Discussion Post will be up November 30th. And as always let me know if you want to be tagged or removed from tag. #12monthsofjane

Napoleon's Spy | Ben Kane

My next 4 books for #52bookclub24 ; another great reading month.

Két feleség (Two Wives, not in the Litsy database) included two thought-provoking novellas about love, desire, and the ghosts of the dead haunting living couples. My first book from this author (Sándor Bródy) but definitely not the last.

(more in the comments)

eeclayton Napoleon's Spy takes place during Napoleon's campaign in Russia. Although I found the descriptions of the campaing compelling with lots of interesting and devastating details, I didn't think the protagonist was likeable, and I wasn't as shaken by the events as I had expected. All in all, it was a good book worth reading, but it didn't stand out for me. 1mo
eeclayton Masha has been obsessed with serial killers ever since her father was murdered. When she begins her internship at the Moscow police station, she gets to study the files of some weird killings, and she starts to discover what seems to be the pattern behind these cases.
This was not exactly a page-turner, but an exciting thriller with a good plot. The middle part was rather slow but not uninteresting.

eeclayton Wildtrack is a thriller set in the 1980s written by Bernard Cornwell, who is mostly known for his historical fiction. It was a good book, with enough twists to keep me interested, and I especially liked the atmosphere of life at sea. However, all throughout the book, I felt like the story was promising something that was never quite delivered. 1mo
Librarybelle Yay! Great reading! 1mo

Found this book interesting and entertaining! The characters were fun, the story was intriguing and it was an easy read. The only issue I had was the ending. It felt rushed and incomplete. And why did Alice never see her beau again?! I wanted a happy ending for them. But the dynamics of Alice being placed in a power position in The Mint was really fascinating and not something that you would expect in that time frame. Overall, loved it!
