Honestly I got this book because of #CoverLove

But I found the story lacking. It reads like a YA, the characters feel childish and absolutely nothing happens for the biggest part of the book.

These books are never what I expect, but it always blows my mind.
A very satisfying end to a very heart-rending journey.

Hob weaves true magic with her writing. Her poetic, imaginative prose takes you places you've never dreamt of; contiplating situation you'll never face, but truly do though her stories

👇🏼 continued 👇🏼

Enchanted_Bibliophile Going into a darker, more introspective character study with this book makes it much slower than the previous two (which were already slow) so perseverance is the name of the game. Don't try to rush, stick with it I promise you'll be glad you did. Even if it test your tolerance for grimness beyond what you think you can handle. 2d
Enchanted_Bibliophile The complexity of the character bonds is what really pulled it off for me. Nighteyes, Fool I'm looking at you.
The prolonged revenge quest got a bit much for me, but the character development I got out of it was so worth it. Understanding where Fitz came from - his physical and psychological suffering - made me understand his need for revenge.
2d
Enchanted_Bibliophile How he revenged himself in the end, O Man!
It shows just how much he's learnt and grown and it was just spectacular.

I'm gonna miss these characters, they've become a part of my heart.

I read this in two days. It‘s that good. I‘m a huge Twain fan, and I loved this imaginative retelling. It deserves all the hype. Letter J for #LitsyAtoZ @Texreader (It didn‘t get picked @Graywacke but I read it anyway. 😂 )

Graywacke Yay! Nice to see this. Fantastic book 3d
Texreader Perfect #letterJ! Such a great book!! Glad you loved it too. 3d

When I started reading this, I wasn‘t sure it was going to be my sort of thing. But by then end, I was so invested in the characters, willing Gail to not let me down (she didn‘t!). This short novel is an exquisite exploration for relationships and forgiveness. I adored it.

It‘s a war story, but it‘s more than that. It‘s an exploration of whether being “neutral” and being “innocent” are the same thing, or even compatible. #bookspin and Q for #LitsyAtoZ @TheAromaofBooks @Texreader (photo is Saigon 1955 from the Internet.)

Ruthiella My first Graham Green and still my favorite. 6d
TheAromaofBooks Woohoo!! 6d
Lcsmcat @Ruthiella My first was The Return of A J Raffles which we saw in London. My mom had us read it first because she was afraid that with the accents we wouldn‘t understand. 😂 6d
Texreader Oh!! Excellent pick for letter Q! I haven‘t read anything by him. This looks like it would be a good start 5d
CarolynM It‘s such a good book. My first Greene too @Ruthiella & tied for favourite with 5d

⭐️⭐️⭐️ June‘s #DoubleSpin

Leah‘s daughter returns home after being gone for 5 years living on a cultish commune with her batshit father.

I think this book‘s WTF-am-I-reading-page-turn-ability helps to gloss over some of the flaws of this book. Ex: The daughter in this book reads like a 13 year old during a time where she is written to be 18, plotholes, flat writing at times, etc.

I really struggled with this one (and so did my IRL book club). The characters, especially Sarah‘s twin sister Emily, are unlikeable. Cozy mysteries are not typically known for strong plot lines, but this one seemed even more scattered than most. I liked RahRah the cat! I don‘t plan to continue with the series. #Vladimir #CatsOfLitsy #LitsyAToZ #LetterO #HasShortChapters #52BookClub25

Reading this was truly like going to the circus as a child. Meeting the performers before witnessing their unbelievable acts, getting lost in a maze of awe-inspiring sights, the mystery, not knowing what was going to happen next, and the incredible letdown when you know you have to leave.

At first, I didn't know what to make of this book. Children forced to learn magic for a game only to find out one must die. One wild ride.

I was expecting a feelgood story about mother-daughter relationships and “found family”, but what I got was a woman who sees ghosts, superficial relationships and a confused and confusing story. This one wasn‘t for me, sadly.

Pickpick

Lewis truly had a gift to break down complex issues into bit-size understandable chunks.

Looking into the what, the how and the Who behind some questions everyone asks themselves at one point in their lives; and explaining in a sensible manner the why behind Christianity
