Love this author! Gorgeous writing, the characters written with such empathy and depth, and a compelling plot, full of love, betrayals, tragedy and secrets. It‘s a story of 3 friends, inseparable in childhood, separated by a series of events in their teens, as the narrative moves back and forth in time. Ultimately this is about friendship in all its complexities, evolutions and endurance. Just fantastic.

A club of university students spends a week on an island off the coast of Japan where a gruesome crime has recently occurred. Soon the first among them is murdered.
The characters in the book are flat, there is no poetic line to be found, but this cult book is an example of the “shin honkaku” genre — a Japan-specific reboot of the classic whodunit. Recommended!

I just loved this refreshing, honest, heartwarming memoir by Rob Lowe. As a true #EightiesGirl I enjoyed looking back at some of the most iconic movies & actors from my younger days. Rob Lowe is such a genuine good guy, his charm really comes through. I‘m definitely going to listen to his follow up book. I highly recommend the audio version….If any of my #Pop22 Crew needs a book for #SetInThe80s this memoir would be perfect 🥰

This was fine, entertaining at times but it was too long; felt dated & campy. The writing was a little off color, probably acceptable for the early 80‘s but I don‘t think it would get published today without some editing & polishing. A light pick. 🎉In non book news my niece qualified today and will skate at tomorrow‘s pairs long program. She has no chance to medal but her personal goal was to skate clean & advance and that‘s just what she did💕
