ImperfectCJ @lil1inblue I can't find any news past March about how the US withdrawal from the WHO affects this year's flu vaccines. Last I read, the CDC and FDA participated in meetings with the WHO re: 2025-2026 vaccine, but I don't know if the other parts of the flu vaccine development process continued as usual. I assume so, but I can't find direct assurance. Kind of annoyed that this crud might affect my ability to get effective vaccines for my family. 2mo

Roary47 My daughter just turned 5 so she is now up for a set of shots and I was told she couldn‘t go on field trips until she had them all. I‘m like she is vaccinated, but she‘s also younger than most of her classmates. 😅 I‘m a science teacher so… I don‘t get it. My students understand the concept why can‘t others. 🤷‍♀️ 2mo

With everything going on in America, I hadn't planned on a “Highlights From California“ until next week.

But something has happened.

Haven't been sleeping well, & we have a max limit of 2 cups of coffee per day...so, this is basically written at a level of anxiety & rage that hasn't been emotionally processed/remedied.

Please know: everything has turned out fine for now, but this was an alarming moment for Los Angeles, California & America.

At a park where families, teenagers, a kid summer camp, park venders, and a homeless medical pop-up were all going about Summer activities...

National Guard in tanks, holding weapons, federal agents forming lines on foot and horseback, caravans of federal agents, & possibly even a military helicopter all swarmed MacArthur Park.

AnnCrystal Our Mayor Bass was on the way to an unrelated press conference when she saw the helicopter.

Mayor Bass went and helped evacuate the park.

Over Live coverage, it looked like a federal agent reached and grabbed Mayor Bass' arm, but this is not confirmed.

Children from camp were rushed into a nearby building for protection.

Those from the homeless medical pop-up were surrounded & frightened, by armed agents who reportedly cursed at them.

Everyone stayed calm and did not give agents a reason to act violently.

No kidnaps are known.

The presence of National Guard and federal agents have all left MacArthur Park.

NBC LA has since reported that peaceful protestors are now gathering at this park.

True, we are not being given the whole story. Mayor Bass held a second press conference on July 8th, and the news stations either didn't show it or cut the coverage early (again).

Our Mayor Bass was a warrior. If she hadn't taken the time to act, who knows what may have happened...
