Eleanor says this is one of the BEST BOOKS EVER. She wants me to read it next. I'm thinking maybe I'll use it as leverage to read one of the books I've been trying to get her to read! (Nancy Drew or LHOP...) 🙂 Mother Daughter Book-Swap Club?

Cinfhen My son wanted to discuss Flowers for Algernon or The Alchemist, I had to humbly admit, I've yet to read either😞😬🙄 8y
howjessicareads - the things I have to look forward to! 8y
Cinfhen I told him, I'm going to try to incorporate both books into my #yearofmagicalreadingchallenges ?He shrugged his shoulders and said "whatever" clearly, he was NOT impressed ??? 8y

The Hunger Games Trilogy | Suzanne Collins
post image

#ReadJanuary #BooksEveryoneHasReadButYou It's my moment of shame 😔I'm not a big fantasy reader 🙄I definitely feel like I've missed out on lots of series and good books. I'm hoping to try the Hunger Games Trilogy this year! What other can't miss Fantasy series would you knowledgeable Littens suggest??? #Yearofmagicalreadingchallenges

coastalreader The Shades of Magic series by V.E. Schwab. The third book comes out in February. 8y
LazyOwl Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson is awesome 8y
Foxyfictionista Try Blood Ties by Pamela Freeman. It's the first of a trilogy and it is unlike any fantasy I've read. I really loved it. Also, don't be ashamed about not having read any fantasy. Be proud that you're branching out and getting something new. That's difficult for a lot of people to do. You're like an adventurer traveling to a new land! 8y

TrishB Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb 💜 8y
Cinfhen Thanks for the encouragement and suggestions 😊I'm stacking them all @coastalreader @LazyOwl @Foxyfictionista @TrishB 8y
Ruri_kaichou No shame! Read what you like and try to branch out 😉 I love the Chronicles of Narnia and the Xanth novels are so fun. 8y
Cinfhen Thanks @Ruri_kaichou 💖I actually read the 8y
Cinfhen I will check out Xanth (edited) 8y
RanaElizabeth Try Patrick Rothfus, epic with great storytelling. 8y
RanaElizabeth Or Scott Lynch, buddy comedy with lots of cons. 8y
RanaElizabeth Daniel Polansky, gritty and urban. 8y
saresmoore I loathe George R.R. Martin. Just ugh. Don't care how good his books supposedly are. I think your omission of all of these series is probably a good choice. BUT, I'm quite intrigued by all the wonderful suggestions in the comments above! The Name of the Wind is on my TBR for 2017. 8y
Melkyl I love the Game of Thrones series, but I know others who don't. I didn't care for The Hunger Games. How about The Lord of the Rings? I really enjoyed it too. 8y
ValerieAndBooks I've not read any of the above either! Or LOTR. 8y
Cinfhen @ValerieAndBooks & @saresmoore I'm glad to know I'm in such esteemed company and I agree, I've gotten awesome suggestions from @RanaElizabeth & @Melwilk 🙌🏻My TBR is completely out of control and I couldn't be more pleased 😁 8y
Dragon I liked 8y
Hooked_on_books The Hunger Games is a great story and a wonderful protagonist. Skip the Twilight books unless you're a fan of misogyny. 8y
SincerelyWinona My only tip is if you're not a typical fantasy reader you may need to just power through the first Hunger Games book. It starts a little slow and I actually gave up on it when I got it as an ARC originally! The second book's my favorite. 8y

The Muse: A Novel | Jessie Burton

Starting my January book club selection. First paragraph has potential! Has anybody read this??? Thoughts?!?
It's my "B" for #LitsyAtoZ fills #popsugar #booksetintwodiffrenttimeperiods #LRC22 #recommededBy (Deb from book club) and could work in both @BetterWorldBooks and #ERMadlibs #yearofmagicalreadingchallenges

Redwritinghood I read it last year. Really liked it. 8y
wendim I read this over the summer and even though completely unrelated in many aspects I felt this was a sister novel to Enchanted Islands and I really enjoyed both. 8y
Cinfhen @MrsBanks Really? I LOVED Enchanted Islands 🌴 I'll be curious to see how you felt they connected, cool 😎 Thanks for letting me know @Redwritinghood that u enjoyed. I'm having trouble focusing on this one, even though I should be loving it! Hoping to connect with it over the weekend 😉 8y

LornaDH We have the same 'B'! Can't wait to get to this one. 8y
Samwise_Gamgee This is my pick for b too! Hope it's good!! 8y
Merethebookgal It's on my kindle, but I'm not sure when I'll get around to reading it 8y
Cinfhen Great minds think alike!!!Are you both doing the mixed track ??? @Samwise_Gamgee & @LornaDH I wonder if we have any other overlaps??? (edited) 8y
mrsmamfa Oh I loved it!! Big fan of Jessie Burton after The Miniaturist and had to order this immediately and read it! I just loved it and suffered a book hangover afterwards! 😍 I hope you enjoy it! Good luck with your January TBR! 8y
Cinfhen @mrsmamfa I'm really liking it, so far but...I feel like it requires some real concentration & I cant concentrate at the moment 😫I'm taking a short break and will resume later. Glad to know you LOVED it 😻 8y
mrsmamfa Awww I understand, sometimes you just need a light read!! 😊 8y

When Breath Becomes Air | Paul Kalanithi

Pickpick

A short but substantial read. My heart ached for Dr. Kalanithi's wife, parents and young daughter. Knowing that his life was going to end, much sooner than ever imagined, Paul Kalanithi chose to write his memoir as a legacy for his daughter. I was truly moved by his wife's epilogue as Dr. Kalanithi passed away before he was able to finish his manuscript. #yearofmagicalreadingchallenges #LitsyAtoZ #NonfictionChallenge17 #LRC9 #popsugar17

Faibka One of my favorite books, so powerful and heartbreaking 8y

The way each word is crafted is so personal, it creates beauty~ pain ~ truth 🙌🏻We read this as an ARC but I will definitely be buying a copy. Every young woman NEEDS to read this! Just WOW.
