ReadingOverSleeping
Mockingjay | Suzzane Collins

Pickpick

Though this is a dystopian novel, it's realistic about what violence and war do to the masses. I am satisfied with the ending, not tied up in a neat bow, but really showing how long trauma can truly last. It's terrifying how history nearly repeats itself so easily, completely blind to the consequences. Mankind, so intelligent, ever evolving, never realizing the true cost of abusing one another. #bekind #teamnosleep for #mockingjay #hungergames

Naj Lovely review! 7mo
LibrarianRyan This was one of the few popular trilogy/series where I actually liked the ending. I liked the ending because it showed that there were real consequences in life. Not everyone lived happily ever after. A killer reader, but I loved every heart breaking minute of it. 7mo
ReadingOverSleeping @LibrarianRyan You were right, it was a great series. It's amazing how they were ready for just one more. I was sad about Prim the most though, the girl who really started it all because her name was called and she had a sister who would literally die for her. Watching Catching Fire now, much better than the first! 7mo

ReadingOverSleeping @Naj thank you! Did you read the series? I highly recommend! 7mo
Scochrane26 @ReadingOverSleeping @LibrarianRyan I also liked the ending of this series, it‘s realistic. I think I like this series so much because it relates to current events. Author got the idea from real life events. Other ya series also have meaning, but I think this one is a little deeper. There are a lot of series that are hunger games lite. 7mo
Scochrane26 Also, I‘ll never get over finnick‘s ending 7mo
starlight97 Wise words! 7mo
LibrarianRyan @Scochrane26 Ahhh. Finnick. There are things I hope she touchs on in her new books that were skipped over or not fully explained like Avox.

As for another Realistic series, if you have not read it (at least book 1), try Unwind. It is so real to what is actually happening now. When I first read it I was like NO WAY, but each day we get a little closer.
7mo
Scochrane26 @LibrarianRyan I read unwind a few yrs ago, & it horrified me, but I liked it. There‘s one scene toward the end that I‘ve never forgotten. I always forget about that one when recommending a series, & I forget to go back & finish the series. 7mo
ReadingOverSleeping @Scochrane26 @LibrarianRyan please tell me more about unwind! Although I need something less heart wrenching next! 7mo
ReadingOverSleeping @Scochrane26 that one bothered me as well. Finally with his love, expecting a child and gives himself as the ultimate sacrifice 7mo
LibrarianRyan @ReadingOverSleeping Unwind is by Shusterman. In it all children MUST be born. Between the ages of 14 and 18 any child can be “unwound”. It never comes out and directly says what unwinding is but when they describe it it will give you chills. This story follows three kids sent to unwinding, a tithe and two unexpected. I can‘t say anything else without giving everything away. But it is so good. And the world is just 🤯 7mo
Scochrane26 @ReadingOverSleeping I‘ve heard the rest of the unwind series is good, think there‘s 4 books? I just forget to add them to my long tbr. 7mo
ReadingOverSleeping @LibrarianRyan @Scochrane26 I've just picked up the first in the series from the library! Looking forward to this f"ckery ? 7mo
Naj @ReadingOverSleeping Yes, I've read the series and quite liked it. I was dissapointed by the ending though. Second book was my favorite of the series. But then I usually don't like dystopian fiction so maybe I'm not the right person to judge the series. 7mo

The Book of Awesome | Neil Pasricha

Books I was able to find on my shelves for Be Kind Week! I am going to ask for some of the books recommended to me by other Littens! My copies of Wonder have disappeared... (does anyone else not mind at all when a book wanders off with a kid?! Hey - as long as they‘re reading!)

#teachersoflitsy #bekind #bekindweek

mdm139 At the end of each school year I let my students each pick one book from the classroom library to take home as a gift. 11mo
Johanna414 I feel that way about my library books - so many of my students are unable to afford books of their own, or don‘t have anyone interested enough to buy them. If a few books wander off the shelves, I‘ve got a pretty good budget and just replace them. 11mo
JacqMac I love this! Though I read healthy parsnips. I might need a snack. Lol 11mo

I was right...this was gut wrenching and heart breaking. I cannot believe that people can do these things to each other. I cried from start to finish😥.
However, I encourage everyone to READ THIS BOOK!!!

Just finished this book, after reading it in little bites for weeks so I could think about each few chapters better. They are all little bundles of surprisingly combined wisdom! This is the fog rolling in outside my bedroom window, and how beautiful...
Sometimes you need to let your mind drift in fog to FEEL, before you can SEE the Truth.

#Wonder by #RJPalacio is a 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ star book! 🙌🏼I finished it today, and I cannot recommend it enough! This book is equal parts heartbreaking 💔 as it is heartwarming💗. It reminds us of what really matters, and to #bekind 💙. I also loved this beautiful precept: “I think there should be a rule that everyone in the world should get a standing ovation at least once in their lives.” -Auggie. #MustRead #ChooseKind #BeKindMovement #JPBookReview

Robothugs Love that quote. 🤗🤗 2y
Pamela2 One of my favourite books so far this year. Auggie stays with you for a long time after you finish the book 📚 2y
Jess7 Thanks! I love them both!!! Have you read this one? @Robothugs - if not you should!! It‘s beautiful. The ending was 😍😍😍 2y
