This month's #bookclubbakes are caramelitas: layers of oatmeal cookie, chocolate, and caramel sauce. I used to make these so often, I had the recipe memorized.

Our book was fabulous! Part murder mystery, part survival story, it's full of claustrophobia and fear in the dark winter of 1717, where a murderer is among the settlers in remote northern Sweden.

I'm late posting this because December has been out of control stressful, which wasn't helped by the fact that I decided to make a giant cake for my book club holiday party that had six distinct components and took twelve hours start to finish. But it was gooooooooooooood. Hells yeah I made those trees! Black Forest Dome Cake + the tagged short story = #bookclubbakes

My #bookclubbakes for this month is Dutch apple bread, which I think gets its name because it has a streusel top underneath the glaze.

I've read this book twice now, and loved it even more the second time. It's not really about religion, so don't be scared off by that. I think it's one of the most interesting and unusual mysteries I've ever read. Note all the tabs!
