The Most Fun We Ever Had | Claire Lombardo

I‘m REALLY enjoying this book but I have no idea how many more hours I have left to go....I‘m listening on OverDrive and it doesn‘t seem to have an hour marker. This is a purely character driven novel....covering a 40 year marriage with all its ups and downs. Last week was my 32 wedding anniversary, so I‘m drawn to Marilyn & David‘s story. As an audio, this is a winner, a slow burn of family drama.

Cathythoughts I really enjoyed this one ❤️👍🏻 4y
JennyM @Cathythoughts seconding Cathy. Really enjoyed this one, and glad you are too - did the print version 😊 4y
Cinfhen My heart breaks for Jonah @Cathythoughts Violet is awful 4y

Cinfhen See my comment @JennyM 🖕🏼Do you have sisters??? I don‘t so I wonder if it seems accurate (edited) 4y
Cinfhen Do you have sisters @Cathythoughts ??? 4y
TrishB I‘m going to read when I have a couple of days off! I have 4 sisters so will let you know 😁 4y
Cinfhen I‘m curious to hear your thoughts @TrishB xx Have you read this @Reviewsbylola @Mdargusch @emilyhaldi I‘d love to hear your input!!!!! I‘m really enjoying the audio 🎧 4y
JennyM @Cinfhen I have a sister and a brother and , although our relationships are nothing like that in the book, I think each of us has a certain perceived role and that has stayed with us into adulthood - even though we have grown and changed #middlechildhere 😆 4y
Cinfhen I agree @JennyM I have 3 brothers, all younger than me but we definitely have our “roles” and we have taken them into adulthood,as well. I get the #MiddleChild role. I see it with my own family members. 4y
Cathythoughts My heart broke for Jonah too , he plays such a key part in the family dynamics, like @JennyM I did the print version too ... I love a good family drama like this 4y
Caroline2 Ohh I‘ve had this on my tbr shelf for a while now. Sounds like I need to move it up the pile. 👍 4y
Cinfhen Did the book feel like it was ever dragging @Cathythoughts @JennyM ??? Because it‘s not really a page turner in the traditional sense but I‘m DEFINITELY INVESTED in this story!!!!! I think you‘d enjoy it @Caroline2 💕 4y
JennyM @Cinfhen @Cathythoughts I have severe #chunksterphobia but I could have happily read another 100pages. I really did love it x 4y
Soubhiville I really liked this one. I really felt for the characters and wanted things to work out for them. I don‘t remember exactly where this book was set but it felt like the neighborhoods I grew up in, like this could have all happened up the street. 4y
Cinfhen Absolutely @Soubhiville book is set in suburbs of Chicago but could have easily been my Pennsylvania neighborhood. Characters are each nuanced and recognizable (edited) 4y
Reviewsbylola I have this on my TBR but haven‘t read it yet. 4y
Cinfhen I think you should bump it up or request audio from library @Reviewsbylola 4y
Reviewsbylola Maybe I‘ll try it on audio. I‘m usually pretty bad at fiction on audio but I‘ve surprised myself before. 4y
arubabookwoman I loved this one too. I saw some complaints about it being too long, but I thought every word was vital. I have 5 sisters (1 brother), and the relationships among the sisters were so true. 4y
Cinfhen It does feel a bit long at times @arubabookwoman but it‘s really helping to shape these characters into believable women. Audio helps because I can “tune out” for a moment and feel like I haven‘t really missed anything too significant ( although those sneaky moments do keep popping in) Try the audio @Reviewsbylola I think the narration will please you. 4y

Time for the bookish discussion question of the day 😁👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻! Here it is: Do thicker books get you hesitant to read them because of their size? #BookTalk

KarouBlue Of course. I‘m also more likely to DNF them if they‘re even remotely boring. #chunksterphobia 5y
wanderinglynn Not hesitant, but I do make sure I have time set aside to read them. 5y
LazyOwl Only because they are heavier and uncomfortable to read with, otherwise it doesn't put me off. 5y

Sharpeipup Yes. 5y
wordslinger42 Nope! I love a chunkster, especially if it's fantasy 5y
Prairiegirl_reading 💯❗️ 5y
Jaimelire No 5y
Butterfinger Nope 5y
megnews Yes! 5y
rsteve388 Sometimes. A bigger books for me needs more dedication. It helps me to set daily goals usually 50 pages a day 5y
Soubhiville No, I love chunksters. 5y
rwmg I used to love them, but now I am hesitant to start a thick book. I'm not sure whether that's because of a declining attention span due to social media or just age or because I'm doing too many challenges and always have one eye on the number of books read. 5y
dragondrool Not at all. 5y
JacqMac No. But it has to be at just the right time and I have to be in just the right mood. So I often save them for later. 5y
SW-T Nope. 5y
BookishRedhead Kinda. It depends on the size 5y
kalinichta It depends on how excited I am at the prospect of the story/material in the book. 5y

OK, I admit it. I‘m enjoying this @Reggie !

Think I might use it for #booked2019 #genrebusting as I‘m busting into a genre I don‘t usually read AND busting through #chunksterphobia to read it.

TrishB This is a fab read 👍🏻 5y
Reggie Yayyy!!!! I‘m so happy!!!😁 5y

Time to ‘fess up. 😟

I started it in January as my chunkster read for the year. By April I‘d kind of #goneaway and haven‘t gone back since. I was enjoying it, but chunksterphobia got the better of me. I finally admitted last month that I really wasn‘t currently reading this one. Maybe next year? 🤔🤥

#winterwonderland

JennyM Chunksterphobia is so real! 6y
rockpools @JennyM I have it bad! 6y
Cinfhen Ha!!! I call it #PageCountPhobia and it‘s REAL!!! I did read this book BUT only because the awesome #DarguschGirls had my back @Reviewsbylola @Mdargusch @emilyhaldi @Meredith3 and honestly it was a #ROUGHroad 6y

Cinfhen I did end up liking it and I‘m glad I finished but those pages didn‘t stop😣🥺 6y
rockpools @Cinfhen 😂😂😂 I think you all inspired me to try it. Seriously, it annoys the life out of me! It‘s only like 3 ‘normal‘ books. Why is it so difficult??! 6y
TrishB I have #smallaphobia I literally feel I can‘t read a book less than 300 pages!! 6y
Cathythoughts Great pick I loved the movie ! Don‘t think I could tackle the book 👍🏻. I definitely like a book to be at least 200 pages ... & generally not more than 400ish ... but if it‘s more that‘s ok too @TrishB 6y
gradcat Isn‘t this one of those rare cases where the movie was better than the book? And much shorter....😂 6y
Cinfhen Once you get to page 650 the story really picks up 😂😂😂😂😂😂 6y
rockpools @TrishB How do we EVER read ANY of the same books??! 6y
rockpools @Cathythoughts I think 2-400 is my comfy place too 📚 6y
rockpools @gradcat I think the film‘s still about 3 hours - which is a good hour longer than I need my movies! Haven‘t seen it 😑. Well I‘ve probably seen the first hour... 😂😂😂😂 6y
rockpools @Cinfhen YOU‘RE NOT HELPING!!!!! 😂😂😂 6y
Tanisha_A @TrishB Hahahah! Too cool 😎 6y
AsYouWish Oh my stars! I thought I was the only one! I started it in September and then stopped in October, I decided yesterday that it probably wasn't going to happen and thought I would try again at some point. 6y
Reviewsbylola Love this one. But @Cinfhen ‘s comment about page 650 had me rolling. 🤣🤣 6y
gradcat @RachelO Oh. My. God. I don‘t think I‘ve ever known anyone who hasn‘t seen “Gone With the Wind!” This really shows me how utterly ancient I am! Oh well, I just have to be happy being an #oldasdirt litten 😂😂😂 6y
MayJasper I hope this is correct 'frankly my dear I don't give a damn' 6y
MayJasper I meant to say I loved the ending which I attempted to quote. It wasn't an opinion on people's comments! Oops 6y
TrishB Rachel- we obviously convene at the 400page cut off 😁 6y
TrishB @MayJasper 😂😂 6y
TrishB @gradcat this was my mums fav film - I think I‘ve seen it twice a year for about 20 years!! 6y
MayJasper I think I have #smallaphobia too @TrishB 6y
TrishB @MayJasper I hear myself muttering this could be a magazine when I get a tiny book!! 6y
MayJasper @TrishB I feel short changed if a book turns out to be on the thin size! 😀 6y
emilyhaldi Ha, I don't blame you here!!! It was my love for the characters that kept me reading this chunkster... If they aren't holding your attention though perhaps it's best to just forget if 🤷🏻‍♀️ 6y
gradcat @MayJasper I knew what you meant...because I‘ve seen it a kajillion times, too, like @Trishb ... meanwhile these comments are keeping me grinning! 😊😊😊 6y
Mdargusch You are so funny. I have #chunksterphobia too though. @Cinfhen (edited) 6y
rockpools @AsYouWish Definitely not just you! One day... 😂😂 6y
