When you bet &… WIN!

I was fairly confident that the #FantasticStrangelingsBookClub pick for May would be The Hacienda, but I didn‘t know. For some reason she‘s been announcing late in the month lately…

I‘d prefer to give an independent bookseller my $$ for the monthly book, but sometimes I “have to” pick my #BOTM first & it ends up being the same. So I “bet” this month, chose my BOTM, & held off on Hacienda… Voilà! It paid off. ???♥️

Since I met my Goodreads goal early, I decided to read 12 #BOTM #bookofthemonth books — I wanted to see what my resistance was, if I could 😜 (I suspect it has something to do with my lifelong resistance to reading-what-I‘m-told yo read 🤭). I‘m 5 books into that… but when this book arrived from #FantasticStrangelings #fantasticstrangelingsbookclub yesterday, I simply couldn‘t resist. Loving it so far…..

And now I‘m not so sure I will since she just listed all the perks with her upcoming book next year. 🤷‍♀️ Guess I‘ll just have to stay in the club. Life has continued to be... INSANELY HARD!!! My mom was just diagnosed w final stages incurable cancer. As of now, it‘s a big hope that she makes it to Christmas... So I‘m busy, distracted, sad, angry, and all kinds of other confusing emotions.

Meanwhile, I‘m trying to find joy in little things like: The #FantasticStrangelingsBookClub and our new book for the month... has anyone read this? Which way should I read it first?!

This book is strange. I woke up the morning after I finished it and thought about it, realizing I did not grasp the ending and went back to reread it. Now I get it. A dark and magical book. Slight, as books go, but a heavy story. Magic, incest, a touch of horror. Simply gorgeous cover. #fantasticstrangelingsbookclub
